Fingers crossed for a top performance today. We need our most creative, in-form and proven forces in the starting 11.
We need to have a right go at them from the off. A quick goal could make for a thoroughly enjoyable game, but let's not forget the three hugely disappointing home defeats we suffered against this lot under Poch. No complacency today! Make some noise and get behind the team throughout the game, no matter what. COYS!

Sissoko-Winks
Lamela-Eriksen-Lucas
Kane

Son, Dier, Jan, Gazz, GLC, Skipp, Davies.

If "we are going to think like a big club" [Pochettino, April 2019], then let's set the kind of expectations for ourselves that a big club would have. This Newcastle team are currently pish in terms of quality, tactics and motivation, so we should expect - at worst - an unproblematic win today, if not a resounding win. Even with the couple of injuries we have in the squad, we should have the quality and belief to accomplish that.

We want to be a big club? Let's act and perform like one, and not accept excuses for underperformance.

3-0 Spurs.

I get your point. Guaranteed they will come and be ultra defensive and hope for a 1-0 on a counter or set piece near the end. We definitely need a bit more invention up top and as you say, today could be a good day to work on that.
No doubt about it. I expect long balls up to their big man. I was watching MOTD I think, they played so poorly in their last two matches isolated their big man by playing so deep, I expect the same but we need to be mentally there from minute 1 as they may attempt to grab an early goal and we love to concede an early goal

This season is only two and a bit games in and already a familiar pattern is being established. Everyone is letting themselves down against the top two by being out worked. United, arsenal, and chelsea have holes in key positions or whole areas of the pitch.

Only Spurs can offer some variation to the script. These next two games are a good test for that. We should dispatch Newcastle as the top two would. And we should beat Arsenal next week too. We might still fall short, but we have the personnel to separate from the chase for 4th spot. I hope we go about that job well today.

If we get a relatively early breakthrough today we should get a pretty comfortable win. This will involve is actually trying in the first half though which clearly Poch doesn't like so I'm expecting another tense afternoon.

If we do get 2 goals in the first 30 mins I hope we put our foot down and look for a big score. Too often last year we took our foot of the pedal and then made an easy game difficult by the end.

I suspect we will go a goal down, as it seems to be the way. Also the temperature is likely to be an issue and lead to slower play/conservation of energy and fan anger (fanger). Great to see Son back.

That should affect Newcastle more than us, because they should be chasing the ball. I think if we're going to get goals it'll be in the second half when they tire.

Newcastle are a mess at the moment and Steve Bruce is at best a championship manager.
We should be comfortable winners here today, Kane to top up his tally and Sonny to make up for lost time.
I’m going for a 4-1 victory!!!!

Son has to play. He is fit and is one of our best players. Given our less than inspiring performances so far, there is no reason not to bring him in.

I’d also be tempted to pair Sissoko with Lo Celso or Eriksen. We don’t need two holders in there today.

By this do u mean ‘rant anonymously on various social media platforms’ ?
No, I clearly mean we should post anonymous platitudes on social media platforms offering every excuse under the sun why we didn't comfortably beat Newcastle and absolving anyone at the club of any blame for a failure in performance because reasons, should we not get the trouble-free win we expect today.

Ahh, so no matter what happens, there's no debate to be had? We just rage regardless?
Cool....I'll clear my schedule.

Pretty much. You want to be the kind of big club that Pochettino talks about, you win this kind of game without incident the vast majority of the time. And if you don't in the odd specific instance, you own that as a failure and use the anger that comes from having failed to raise your standards to make sure it doesn't happen the next time.

Or you just shrug off the idea of being a big club and winning trophies and give yourself a pat on the back for having participated.

I would prefer Spurs take the first option.

I'd hope for a win today, and I am sure we all want an assured performance. Fingers crossed on both counts, but more crossed for the former.

Ive got no problem with the players and management feeling rage if we don't win, at all.

It's going to be another stodge fest with spurs struggling to find a way through. Harry will end up playing as a midfielder and Eriksen will go missing. Hyperbole over with;

3-0 to spurs. If we can't beat the barcodes with Bruce in charge we haven't improved. Just needs a top effort from the off. Coys

Agreed. (y) And I also have no problem with the fans feeling it as well. They're paying the highest ticket prices in world football and receiving messages from the club telling us that we should start considering Tottenham a big club who are in this sport to compete at the top and win trophies rather than making up the numbers, so if we don't perform to those standards I think everyone involved with the club - players, staff and fans alike - should be pissed off as an incentive to spur us on to better showings in future.

Anyway, we're going to tonk Newcastle today, so it's all a moot point for this afternoon. 3-0, it's happening.
