Going to be interesting how Jose deals with likes of Parrott, japhet etc but particularly Troy as he seems a stand out youth player.
Doesn't have a great history of trusting youth so let's see what happens.
Like that he mentions the youth team excited him
I don't think this is necessarily bad for Spurs Youth teams.
JM is on record for saying he likes a small squad (22 being optimal). So, on the one hand, we can be sure that we won't be keeping players like Wanyama, Vorm, 3 players competing at LB, 3 players competing at RB. It will free up space in the squad that can allow Youth players to move into if we get injuries.
At the same time not having a bloated squad of players will likely mean Skipp, Tanganga, KWP, Parrot won't be stuck in purgatory because they will get loan deals and be able to progress. If they do well and perform that can only be good for them whether they stay or not.
If he’s good enough to make the grade I’m sure everyone will be happy for him to do it at Spurs. What happens to Poch Jr?
Must be pretty uncomfortable for the kid. I hope the people at the club let him know how much his dad was loved here and always will be.
He did play Mctominay quite a bit at 19yrs old and he is now one of their best players.
Mctominay spoke extremely highly of him very recently
The flipside is I now doubt Winks has much of a long term future. He kind of is the total opposite of a Mourinho midfielder. Mourinho likes specialist midfielders...not really someone who can do a bit of this well and a bit of that well without truly excelling at one.
One of his favourite players was essien and he wasnt a specialist just excellent in everything

Winks is not excellent in everything. He's not excellent in anything. A good little player who got promoted to a higher status than he should have. If he's here long term it's as a squad option but the reason I have doubts over his future now is he might now switch places with Dier in the pecking order. We all thought Dier in midfield was over but remember, Mourinho wanted him at United instead of Matic initially.
Jose's first training session (8 min video on the Spurs app) shows him and other new staff taking an interest in Tanganga with a few one on one interactions. Does it mean anything? Who knows, but he doesn't seem to have faded into a cloud of dust now Poch is gone.
Edit:
One of said interactions, an especially interesting one maybe.
Apparently in the 11 months he has been off, he has worked on a new strategy and philosophy, so who knows what that will look like, it could mean Winks is the key to it ,surplus to requirements or anything in between. The flipside is I now doubt Winks has much of a long term future.
