Vlad look likes he can play the game very well.
Likes the ball, does not like to give it away cheaply.
Top signing, top marks to the committee who spotted him.

I have been really impressed with Vlad, with the four central defenders we now have I honestly think we are as strong as anyone.

Top of the table if we learn how to score.

It wasn't the greatest pass but dembele mucked about with the ball which brought on unnecessary pressure and laid a poor pass to Chirches and still the situation could have been saved had Paulinho not pulled out of the challenge.

Yes Dembele did but we had recovered from that and moved into a controlled situation again, therefore his mistake was not caused by earlier instances. He played a pass which had it been at the right pace would have been a good one, unfortunately that was not the case.

Yes Paulinho's tackle was poor but you look to the root cause, not abdicate blame onto someone else who didn't get you out of trouble as others did who tried to criticise Friedel and put the goal at his door.

You forgot to mention Vlads intervention on Remys first chance as well.
Slate the boy all you like, hes a quality defender.
Didnt you say lukaku would destroy vlad?

It was me who said that.

Any manager with a brain would have told Lukaku to stand on Chiriches and then instruct his team mates to hit him aerially.

But they only did it twice.

Dawson was actually brilliant against Everton too.

I am not saying Dawson is brilliant, but he has had more clean sheets than anyone - but he doesn't seem to get the credit Vlad does?

I stated many times I think our defence is solid and that includes dawson.
Our problems are at the other end of the pitch.

I think the fact he is so comfortable on the ball actually negatively affects people's perception of his defensive abilities. He is no worse than Dawson, and his positioning is fine. Like Lloris he prevents attacks and pressure building by relieving it himself through his composure. Times where a defender would hoof a ball out under pressure only for it to come back to us, he would take a risk in order to look for a teammate. It's proactive defending.

Ive read from fans of other teams that Vertonghen is just a good ball playing CB who can get goals. When we all know he is a great defender. When a CB's style goes against the grain that's all they will be recognised for

I have to disagree with pretty much everything you have written.

None of our players really hoof the ball do they?

You say he relieves pressure, but look at the Newcastle goal for goodness sake. Yes Dembele and Paulinho could have done it better, but it all stemmed from Vlad's 'comfort' in possession.

I generally don't have an issue with his positioning, (except for the Newcastle goal) I have generally found it to be pretty spot on. But his general decision making, both offensively and defensively leaves me completely baffled at times.

He should have given a penalty away at home to Hull when he needlessly barged a forward over who was heading towards the corner flag. Seriously, what is all that about? I wouldn't expect that from a Sunday League defender, let alone 'the future' of Tottenham's central defence.

I would also say that other fans perception of Verts is entirely spot on too. He is a classy defender who fails to concentrate for an entire 90 minutes. But that is for a different thread.

I did, fortunately Sandro and the midfield were excellent in not allowing balls into him but I suppose you missed that as well.

By the way I haven't slated him, I merely mentioned his over hit passed cost us the game, that#s all. Slating in my opinion requires a little more than one line.

Sandro wasn't on the pitch until the second half, Chiriches was off at half time.
It's difficult to give your post credence when it is so inaccurate.

Our "wasteful" attackers cost us the game mate.

I really rate this lad, he will be a star in a few years.

You forget his poor pass the led to the goal and resulted in us losing.
Bollollocks! Watch it again. No way was that a poor pass. Paulhino who the ball was pased to, made the ball pass him not seeing the Newcastle player who intercepted. Had Paulhino collected the ball properly as he should have done, then there would have been no goal.
