TEAM FORM -Stoke - WLDDW ----- Spurs - WWDLL ---- (All Competitions)

We can put our Premier League wobble behind us as we turn our attention to our Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday. Jose has already won the League Cup four times in his career and we are just 90 minutes away from reaching another semi-final. We are likely to ring the changes, as are the Potters, who have been struggling for goals of late. We should be able to shade this one and the game could provide a platform for Gareth Bale to be the difference maker.

It has been a tough few day for us, picking up just a point from three Premier League games in the space of seven days. A 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace was followed by a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool and a 2-0 loss on home soil against Leicester City. The Carabao Cup may be a welcome distraction for us that have drifted down to sixth place in the Premier League, having led the way in the table for past three weeks, and with one eye on next Sunday’s Premier League game against Wolves, Mourinho is likely to make changes to his line-up.

Potters boss Michael O'Neill is also expected to rotate, with his side well in the mix for promotion from the Championship, sitting seventh in the table, only outside the play-off places on goal difference. With bigger fish to fry in the league, O'Neill might look to rest some first-choice players, something that could end up playing into our hands. With just one goal in their last three Championship games, stoke have been finding it hard going in the final third recently. Tyrese Campbell is the club's top goal scorer this term with six goals in 16 appearances but he suffered a season-ending knee injury against Cardiff City at the start of the month.

Much of our success this season has been built on a solid defence and we should be able to secure a shutout against Stoke. Bale will be looking to add to his two goals for the season if given an opportunity by Mourinho. The Wales international, on loan from Real Madrid, is still having to work hard to earn regular starts here after struggling to reach peak fitness. He came on as a half-time substitute against Leicester last time out and having often featured in midweek in the Europa League, should be fresh to start in this game. Expect Stoke to struggle to cope with his pace and direct running. Those qualities should see the Welshman get his name on the scoresheet on Wednesday night as we aim to book a place in the last four.

Not really looking forward to this. Never really enjoy watching Stoke, although have no idea what style they play now.

Just need to win and then at least we have a semi-final to look forward to next year.

Let's hope a few fringe players stake a claim for the first team as I think we need a freshen up. Dele, Bale, Doherty and Vini to play well hopefully. It is a shame Roden is cup tied.

COYS.

Stoke's recent results look decent; If they play with some sort of form, a strong desire to get to the semis, we could be in trouble playing a half decent mishmash of a team. This is a huge game for us, we mustn't underestimate Stoke and take this as a given result.

I just hope we take the game to them and not adopt the style we have been playing recently. We should have much more quality on the pitch and need to show it against teams like Stoke

Exactly this. If we stay compact and look to hit on the counter against a team we should be beating it will be so frustrating. I am not saying we go gung-ho against them but I would like to see some expansive football.

If we don’t it’s going to be a very dull affair.

Stoke are pretty decent and looking at their stats seem to have goals throughout the team. If we put out our traditional second string we will probably struggle to score. Could see this one going to pens.

They've already deservedly knocked out Villa and Wolves. I'm sure we will see a reaction after the Leicester game though, if not then we're in deep shit.

We have to go all guns blazing for this. Let's make the last 3 results look like the hick-up that they were.

Really intrigued to see who gets picked tonight.
Same, frankly i'd hope we play a lot of our second 11 players with the view that the first 11 has been a bit off form recently and that anyone who sines in this game could have a real chance of getting into the first 11 for the next match.

Our first string have hardly covered themselves in glory lately either. Challenging selection for Mourinho and trying to get them motivated for the much quoted 'rainy Wednesday night in Stoke'.

They've only lost 1 in 7, which is good.

But they've only scored 3 in 7, which is Arsenal.

Anyway, whatever their form, we should be winning this game comfortably.

I feel the same. Thing is with our style of football and tactics, the potential is there for any team of any level to play a bit, see possession, gain some sort of confidence throughout the match etc. It is a problem in the league as well as when we've played in Europa but we really need to establish a way to show some dominance over the lesser teams, to actually use the ball well when we have it and be comfortable in possession.
