I cant be botered with being pessimistic, so i'm gonna say 2 things:

1) If we lose it may have a positive effect on the team as a whole (including management and the board). Therefore I'll be calm on the outside (but pissed off inside)

2) We'll win.

What if we lose to Sunderland, but then beat Chelski and Villa???

It would mean a poor start, with tougher games to come, but it wont define our season. We could win the next ten and then everyone will forget the two losses at the start.

we could, but we're in dyer need of some momentum otherwise this start could mirror last year.

I'd continue to ignore the football, as I have done since the end of last season.

Euro 2008 was a breath of fresh air without any England involvement, and I really can't be arsed with the whole sorry Spurs saga and the whining twats that are such a huge part of it now, so I'll continue to happily ignore it all for as long as possible.

Thank God for the Olympics, I think I'd have gone mad this summer without them and the Euro's.

for spurs fans to declare top4 or 6 or whatever as unreasonable targets is just apologist wank.

every season we routinely match the spending of the so called top 4.

yet apparently it is unrealistic to expect a challenge to the top 4.

Its thinking like that that gets us nowhere year after year. and this year looks like it is shaping up no differently.

we have every right to complain when from top to bottom the employees of our club cockup. whether it be levy and our rubbish transfer dealings, ramos and his jol-esque 'tactics' on sat, or the players and their toothless displays.

this transfer window is looking nothing less than disasterous. we have bought the wrong players at the wrong time. We are short up front and at the back. what were we thinking? random imulse buying with no sensible agenda.

and whats more we are genuinely concerned, and with reason, that we will be turned over at home by sunderland this weekend.

bad planning. i dont know what they were playing out this window.

You obviously know better, charlatan.

Can we fast-track you into Management? Or maybe some sort of institution.

I know this may sound crazy. But just bear with me, because I think you can take it. The reason you don't know what they "were playing out this windows" is simply that you do not know what they were playing out this window. You don't know anything. Apparently about much else either, but, let's not get too personal. You don't know the ins and outs of every deal, you don't know what was said in dressing rooms or conversations between personnel, management and board of directors and chairman. You know nothing, except what your Red Top is bleeting at you, with it's conveniently located tits on page 3.

The best way to deal with something one considers foolish is to deride, belittle, patronise, condescend and make it seem beyond the realms of any sort of logic.

Well since that's already been done, by yourself, this will be awfully easy.

How. Just how on this Earth does any fan's thinking have any profound effect on anything except on his or her own life? You make it sound like the fact that some of us don't think we'll finish in the Top 4 is somehow causing us to underperform. What? Just, what?

And if I'm correct, we are (yes I can confirm) ONE game into the season. And that was away from home. That could have gone either way. Yet you in your infinite football manager wisdom have decided that we're fucked and we've blown it. Already. Despite being ONE point behind last year's champions, with a home game in hand on them. Now I'm not saying we're going to be title contenders but let us just get back to some sort of semblance of reality.

You have every right to complain, of course you do, but we don't have to sit down and listen and take it without reply. You seem miserable, like someone that permanently depresses. My nan's like this on occasion; declaring Phillips-Odowu (the triple jumper) useless because he didn't win a gold and that he never looked like he was going to win it. Is this you? Are you this person? Because if so, change the record. It's getting old.

How about you get behind your team, stop fucking moaning and whinging and playing the victim the whole time, grab hold of your balls and declare yourself a man. A man that doesn't whinge. A man that supports his football club, through thick and thin and will just once give someone the benefit of the doubt and trust.

It should also be noted at this point, after I've stepped off the soap box, that there are a good 9 days left to sign new players for our potentially 60 game season.

That is all. Goodnight.

Awful result against Boro - to be honest I was gutted along with all I am sure (although I was in New York at the time which made it easier!). However the players pride will be hurt because it was deemed a winnable game and we did not step up to the plate.

A good team will bounce back, and thats exactly what we will do. The team will gel, there will be additions to the squad before the end of the transfer window (CB and DM please) and we will simply chalk this up as a lesson to be learned from.

Still confident on our season, albeit my pride was dented by losing to a team who I simply do not rate. Still 37 games to go......

I know it is only one game but if we want to finish at least 5th if not pushing arsenal/liverpool for 4th you need a strong start to the league, as you do not want to be playing catch up. The top four do not drop many points.

Completely agree, but there are 37 games left. Lets not get too concerned at present, if the results continue in this vein for a run of 3-4 games then start to worry, but I believe we will win on Saturday. A good run of results puts a team in the mix - others will drop points. Man Utd dropped 2 points at the weekend, but they will still in my opinion win the league.

This won't be an issue. WE WILL WIN TOMORROW!!!

I can't wait for the game now. As long as we push their defense all game we will get chances and it's up to Bent to take them, which I have confidence that he will!!

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An interesting little factoid for you all. Of the seven times we've played Sunderland at home in the Premier League we have beaten them... seven times. Yes, we have a 100% home record against Sunderland.

Not enough for you pessimistic lot (oh, you guys!)? We have also beaten Sunderland 10 times in the Premier League. No other side has beaten them more often. We have battered them repeatedly and then gone back for more.

We are Sunderland's bogey team. And we will win on Saturday. And we will laugh. And they will cry. And we will say things like 'go back to the north, you northern people'. And they will mutter some gibberish that no-one will understand (least of all themselves). And we will laugh some more. And they will try to find McEwan's Beer (or whatever it is they drink up there) and then cry. And we shall hoist our sophisticated lager/wine/meths in the air with a great cry of 'we beat the northern types!'.

And then we'll laugh.

Travelling over from Belfast tomorrow on 6:30 flight. Have to beat Sunderland, otherwise I'll be tired and depressed, and that's no way to start a bank holiday weekend ! 3 nil to Spurs, Steed to score an OG, the one he owes us.
