* Royal for Romero if he doesnt make it
* cant see Lo Celso being picked for the 6 role, and I Think PEH edges it over Skipp (jiust my preference)

I think the only decision is Skipp or PEH.

I'd possibly go with Skipp as i think he looks after the ball better than PEH, but I'm not sure it makes a massive difference either way. Neither are great but we are where we are.

Yes there's not much in it, just think if PEH has a good day he's slightly the superior player.

I'm more comfortable if hojberg starts
Same. I think it’s no coincidence that we had pretty much the most shots against us playing Everton when Skipp was starting as our n.o6, he’s one step too slow, gets beaten or turned easily and isn’t great on the ball.

Personally prefer PEH but Ange seems to be leaning towards Skipp right now.

His touch was also heavy here and there.

Early doors he lost the ball with a heavy touch, just after ref played advantage when Son got taken down.....led to a dangerous break with Romero having to slide tackle DCL in the box.

Do agree that PEH is the more athletic of the options.

For me Skipp is less profligate in possession.

Either way, I'd like neither of them to have to play many minutes at all after the end of January.

I think some rotation might be needed for this one considering who we are playing as it could be a very end to end game. Ange’s tactics require a lot of energy so I’d be tempted to make some changes to the CM areas. Gio and/or PEH could be helpful here I feel.

Would like Gio to get a start. He gave us control and tempo when he came on v Everton. Sarr, Gio and Deki in midfield for me.

The reason why we have the discussion about Skipp v PEH v GLC is because none of them have made a claim to take the position for themselves. And our chance of winning this match comes from our superior quality everywhere else on the pitch really.

The ideal situation would be GLC playing at his top level to his potential but how often is that happening? Honestly I think we know by the summer that GLC and PEH aren’t going to be with us any longer - and for that reason, I think it is wisest to give Skipp a run of matches and have a long look to see if he’s an option there going forward.

How about something different

Vic

Porro
Romero
Davies
Udogie

GLC
Royal
Sarr

Deki
Richarlison
Son

I was thinking that playing Royal as DMF or 6 may be an interesting option....
i would rather see him than PEH / Skipp.

Save johnson for when the game gets stretched and legs get tired
and or swap GLC and Deki around?

Emerson Royal for Tottenham vs. Everton:

◉ Most duels won (13)

◉ Most interceptions (8)

◉ Most possession won (8)

◉ Most fouls won (6)

I tend to agree, skip is probably the one who might have a longer term future if he can show improvement snd he won’t do that without games. Given he is CT, youngish snd good attitude they may see him as a future squad player. Hojberg is clearly off when an offer comes in and gio, despite his skill, doesn’t really have the athleticism needed for an Ange midfielder. He may end up staying though as I don’t think we’d loan him out and the clubs who’d want to buy him don’t have any money. Plus he seems pretty happy at spurs now, so who knows.

anyway the point stands that it makes sense to give skip game time now to see if he can play his way into the future plans, even if his contribution in the short term might be a bit less than hojberg.

I also am interested in whether Emerson could play as 6, but I think Brighton is almost the worst team to try it against. They might not be on top form, but everything they do is designed to engineer a player out of position and exploit the space left behind. He's never played there before and the poor sod will feel like he's on the waltzer.

My XI :

Vicario
Porro Romero Davies Udogie
Kulu Hojbjerg Sarr
Johnson Son Richarlison

I want us to start Hojbjerg as 6 instead of Skipp on Thursday. Also, for this game, I want us to play Richy out wide than Son. They have a 18yr old Hinshelwood as RB - I think we should target him aerially or try to bully him with strength.

Few decisions, who will partner Davies (Royal, Dier or youth) and who will be 3rd midfielder (GLC, Skipp or PEH). Guess Kulu on the flank is option too and that would make midfield of GLC, Sarr and one of Skipp / Höjberg. Come january GLC and Skipp need to step up, Höjberg too in case he is still here.
