Am I one of the only people here that would like to see 2 strikers at home to these teams??
Something like a team of

Lloris
Dier Kaboul Vertonghen rose
Lamela Dembele mason erikson
Soldado Ade
?
That team has Adebayor in it. Though perhaps you were thinking of Europa only.

Be amazed if anyone who played the full 90 mins yesterday starts against Newcastle. Maybe with the exception of Jan as i very much doubt Vlad will be starting alongside Kab's. I guess it will be Stambo and Mason in CM and Soldado sitting in front of Eriksen, Rabona and Chadli. Personally i will be happy with that.

Don't agree. Capoue will start with Mason, its not like there's been a lot of travel involved here.

Why would you break up a blossoming partnership of Mason and Capoue?

Poch had to strengthen the side last night or we risked not advancing out of the group stage.

I assumed as much but was surprised that he played the full 90 if that's the case. Thought he would have been happily wrapped up on the bench at 65 minutes if he was getting a weekend game.

The Newcastle game would be a perfect game for Stambouli to make his first start given that, due to their transfer policy, he's probably already played against most of them in Ligue 1! ;)

I really can't seen anything other than Capoue and Mason starting. Some of Poch's decisions are a bit tricky to work out as well so I wouldn't read too much into him staying on. I mean bringing Chadli and Eriksen on when the game is dead was a bit strange to me.

Yeah I agree I think they will both start. The subs were surprising to me as well, I would have been quite happy for stambouli to get some minutes.

For me Kane has to play vs Newcastle now in the 10 role but who drops out? I would leave out chadli and move eriksen to the left. Very harsh on chadli but how can you leave Kane out after last nights performance
It's a difficult decision for the manager. I would keep Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela but probably start Kane up front in Soldados place.

Your right chadli doesn't deserve to be dropped but neither do lamela or eriksen but as I said Kane's goals and performances can't be ignored from the 10 position anymore.
Not sure about chadli upfront TBH completely different role to the one he has been playing

True it is different, but I think he'd do just fine. He's our only current player making consistently dangerous runs in behind opposing back lines, and he has the speed to get on the end of them. He has the strike/finishing ability to do the job, is big to provide a target, and also has very good touch in the tight spaces of the box.

Keep both Chadli and Kane and drop Ade, simple. On current form Chadli would make a better CF than Ade IMO

Vorm Chiriches Davies Dembele Townsenf Soldado Adebayor
I know Kane's been doing his great work as a number 10 but he's also on form and confident, which can't be said for the other two. Additionally, it's not exactly uncommon for number 10s to play as the centre forward. Rooney, Suarez, Aguero, all have had their best seasons in this league spearheading the attack as line strikers. Berbatov too in his golden boot season at Utd. Besides, it's not as if Adebayor and Soldado don't both drift wide or drop deep constantly. Soldado definitely plays like a number 10 while Adebayor loves that left wing! I'd say give Kane the start. Hot off a hatrick and against a side playing poorly, it just makes sense.

That said, if Adebayor kept his place up front for 7 league games despite scoring once and assisting once, the. Soldado, who penalty miss aside played well v City, is probably due more than just one game to show that he's worth a go, and I imagine he's a likely starter v Newcastle. I wouldn't be against this, but I think Kane has earnt the start.

Can't see poch playing chadli upfront on his own will be ade with eriksen chadli and lamela behind.
I would play Kane but poch seems quite rigid in his team selections

Ok, from my point of view:

---------------------Lloris----------------------
Dier-------Kabs----------Verts--------Rose-
------------xxx------------Mason---------------
---Eriksen--------Lamela-----------Chadli---
---------------------yyy---------------------------

I guess the nine above are nailed on unless injury.

xxx = Stambouli, Capoue, Dembele

Most likely a race between Benji and Etienne with Etienne getting the nod. But wouldn't be unhappy to see what Stambo can do in the PL. We could need Capoue on the bench as CB replacement as our only other option would be Vlad.

yyy = Soldado, Kane, Adebayor

Very hard choice. Kane deserves it, Soldado needs it, Adebayor a strange one but I belive Poch will pick him. For me I'd be happy with Solly and Kane, but we will see.

Subs: Vorm, Davies, Stambouli/ Capoue, Dembele, Townsend, Soldado/ Kane, Adebayor

If that was the case, Capoue should have come off on 65 mins, just after we had gone 3-0 up.

I wouldn't read too much into it. He brought on Chadli and Eriksen when we were 5-0 up...pretty sure they'll be playing on Sunday.
