Considering they only actually need 2 1/2 days of actual play looks like the forecast is ok
Could be an interesting coin toss.

"So Ben you've won the toss, what are you going to do?"

"Well Nasser we've had a look at the forecast and we're going to declare."

Yeah, that is what I expected. Moeen batting at 3. TBH i'd have had Lawrence in for that and gone without a spinner but that is a tough call to get right, i'm just not sure Moeen at three for 'balance' is enough justification. Unless he scores big of course :D Never mind, given the bad weather forecast for days 3-5 this is likely to be a draw I reckon.
Remember the test starts on Wednesday, so the first three days are clear according to my Apple forecast. Then not a huge amount of rain for the final two days so 🤞🏽

Hmm think you could be right there. Lawerence in for Moeen would’ve been an interesting move as you say it’ll come down to if Ali scores reasonably big or not as based on the weather a spinning might not be that useful.

I did think stokes would pretty much stick to the same team though.

Hopefully if there is some rain the Anderson could get some swing.

I think Old Trafford is usually a bat first pitch and can get a bit of spin from day 3.

Either way buzzing for the match and hope the weather holds out.

So no spinner to hold up an end.

With rain forecast for the weekend it's going to be a bonkers couple of days isn't it?

IMO Australia to bat first not matter who wins the toss.

I dont mind it TBH.
Travis Head will probably bowl a bit and he isn't horrible.
If the pitch looks ok we may well have a bowl if we win the toss.
With both allrounders in that will take some pressure off the quicks and Marsh can swing the ball.
Should be another ripping test.

Aussies not looking to win this, just banking on us not being able to take 20 wickets. With the weather forecast, going to be tough.

Good start there, classic Broad, and I do love it that he's so certain he's got his man he just wheels away arm in the air!!

Back in the day (90s) when we were really crap and struggling to find a balanced lineup I remember hearing a commentator say if 6 batsmen can’t score the runs you need then you’re picking the wrong ones. Feel like this applies to the Aussies picking 9 of them. safety first often bites you on the backside.
