Old Father Time finally catching up with Jimmy Anderson!

What a difference a fit Stokes makes to our bowling attack. Pretty amazing how well we’ve actually done without half of our talisman

Broady, what a guy.
I remember years ago when he made his test debut thinking he’d only been picked because of his old man, who I do have to say I really liked as an opener.
How wrong could I have been, here we are all these years later and he’s done what he’s done.
Absolutely phenomenal achievement to get 600 test wickets and top the English Ashes wicket takers list,
I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but what a bowler he’s become, hopefully we can get a couple more years out of him!

I think the poms have done well here, not enough runs for mine.

I don't expect too many more runs from our tail.

I’d have bat 1st on this pitch but interesting Cummings said he’d have chosen to bowl first as well.

Need to keep them below 350 with these final few wickets.

You bat down to ten though, my eight year old was laughing about Starc using the same size bat as him!
I expect one of your guys in the second innings to anchor and hit three figures, you’ve played it well with selection.
It’ll go five days but ultimately we needed to get you for under 250 today to stand any chance of winning though

I tend to agree. If the forecast is anywhere near correct 3.5 days won’t quite give us enough time to win this game now and/or we’ll give it away chasing the win too hard

I think this 3.5 day scenario is perfect for England to go out and achieve a result. England will bat in ultra Bazball style today and then it's all about form. If a few of them make quick 70s and we end up with a lead of around 50-100 by the end of the day, get the Aussies in tonight again, aiming to have them all out with a 4th innings target of around 200 and I think that could be achieved in the final 2 days despite the forecast.

England chasing anything between 200-250 will only take them 50 overs. By that I mean they'll either chase it down or be all out. Either way, I can see a result here.

I actually think the challenge of achieving a result is something England will enjoy, as they did in Rawalpindi.

A day of missed opportunity for us yesterday. So many starts and no big score.
Advantage England.
We need a big day in the field with everyone on form.

Need that optimistic rating again

100 lead later today and stick them back in before the close!!

…….we’re not playing some Mickey Mouse side with an ordinary bowling attack!

+ it’s a large ground with big boundaries with Aussies scattered all over it, from ball 1

It's always difficult to know until both sides have batted, but I think that pitch looked better than how you scored yesterday. It'll be interesting to see how we play it once we get in. Do we play steady and try and bat out a day and a half for a high score, or do we try and score even quicker than we usually do. One thing for sure is that It's definitely going to turn quite a bit, and your lack of spinner could really be a massive error from your selection team.

With the forecast the way it is, coupled with the way we will undoubtedly try to manufacture a win, I can only see 2 possible results in this match; a draw or an Australian win.
IMO, Australia secured the series yesterday by batting the entire day, taking what is likely to be a significant chunk (possibly a third) of time out of this game.

REALLY hope I'm wrong. IF we do manage to get a result here, it'll be an extraordinary effort.

True, and if Nathan Lyon is fit he plays. Always. As he should.
But, I am confident Heady can do a job. He bowls well, is accurate and whilst not getting massive turn can be a handful.
Time will tell I guess.

Well a run rate of 5-6 p.o. will do. That's still 400 odd by the end of the day.
