I gave it a go, can't stand the TV graphics but was good to see cricket on regular TV again. Might be something to follow. Funny listening to commentary desperately trying not to call blocks Overs! Blocks? Why not just call them 5s? Has a 'cool' ring to it.

sorry to say, i may be warming to this slightly.

still spend half the innings doing a poor Good Will Hunting impression converting the required rate back into good old runs per over though ?

Im enjoying it but perhaps because there is no other sport at the time. To be honest, from personal viewpoint, I only really like International cricket and find it tough to get into cricket outside of that although im a Middlesex fan - i use fan loosely.

London Spirit tomorrow - best win

I have to hang my head in shame. I'm a traditionalist cricket fan, and I was dreading this new and un-necessary format but I have to say, in the end, I enjoyed both nights, God help me.

Yes, there's still a bit of work to be done on the graphics, but I'm afraid, I didn't mind watching as things panned out, and I did get quite excited at the end. God help me.

The whole commentary and graphics are just too ‘game show’, personally I can’t stand it especially when they are talking rubbish over the game and a wicket falls.
Some of the camera work is pretty poor but I do like the head cam, great to talk it through the delivery and shot selection with my boys.
Would have preferred a T20 format in all honesty and it would have still pulled in the numbers or even the T10 that’s sprung up recently

Brook 62 off 31 and out, game over.

20 year old Qais Ahmad 4 for 12 off 18 balls so far.

Game on, tailenders Carse and Potts have both just hit 6s. 23 needed off 10

Interesting… Welsh Fire have exceeded their bowling time limit, boundary fielder has to move infield.

Good game. Brook nearly pulled it off.
How did we pass on one of our own, Jonny Bairstow, in the 2nd round?
Great interview with him at the break.

I’m beginning to like it. Yes it’s being hyped up and all the pundits and commentators are over the top but I think cricket in this country needs this to keep fresh and have our version of the hugely popular IPL.

It’s been downgraded as a competition due to the fact there’s 2nr T20 World Cups before the next 50 over version, but Hameed has just got another ton for Notts, batting at 4 in the One Day Cup. Teams aren’t putting out their strongest sides but it’s still a good effort and he’ll be going into the India series in decent form. I think they’ll stick with Burns/Sibley/Crawley for the 1st Test all things being well but he might get a go if Sibley or Crawley fails. I think Burns has enough credit in the bank.

not sure this sort of pitch is what they envisaged when the 100 was dreamed up - slow, low, difficult to get off the square.

I get why some pitches are described as being 'slow' but I never understood what people meant by describing a pitch as being 'low'. Can you help?

usually when you get a slow pitch, it’s also low ie the ball doesn’t bounce as much as you would expect on a even paced or quick pitch.

it really adds to the difficultly of being able to hit the ball long and hard - tends to hit lower down the bat away from the middle, and the lack of oace makes it harder to time the ball.

hopefully helpful - it’s another one of those cricketing terms where it’s a bit tricky to explain without going full cricket-geek ?
