Putting up a fight at least but we all knew we were about 70 runs short on the 2nd innings.

Great effort from the boys, hardest place to tour and we’ve taken them all the way in 3 out of 4 tests.

Whilst results on this tour are mirroring those of the last tour, there’s a number of positives we can take out of it. We’ve been competitive in all but one game and the spin department is now in positively rude health compared with last time.

Watching this team is a lot more enjoyable than it has been for a while and right now the future looks good.

Next up for the test team (according to google) is a three match series against the West Indies followed by another three match series against Sri Lanka. I don’t know who we play next winter.

Echoing what others are saying but a 3-1 score line doesn’t really do this series justice. There’s been some incredibly close games and I think a bit of arrogance has cost England at key points in this series. I think we’ve also been a batter light throughout the entire series. Ollie Robinson adding those first innings runs goes to show we probably did need an extra batter.

Great series overall and I hope England can take the 5th as 3-2 would be a decent reflection.

Does feel a little like the Ashes though, missed opportunities with key sessions being lost when we really needed to hammer home some great positions.

Like A&C, just checked the English summer and in terms of tests, looks a little underwhelming which is a shame as the tests are more exciting than the ODIs/T20s at the moment.

I'm not sure this is the right message to send. We should be heading into the fifth test all square - and by definition very much competing against India, in India. This feels a little bit like copping out from addressing why we fall apart once every test match.

The article itself gives a much greater insight into how he actually meant it. As usual the headline gives a different impression. There’s not much wrong with it.

Yeh I think the first paragraph does put it in better context - the wording in the headline is subtly different to his quote in the first paragraph and makes it sound like hindsight rather than an opinion held before the series started but now disproved.

Still, should be 2-2 and I don't get from that article that the England camp feel that it's an opportunity missed. More a case of 'oh well, we weren't expecting much anyway'.

Wood for Robinson in the only change. Bairstow becomes the 17th man to play 100 test matches for England.
Can we name the other 16 without google?

I’ll start off

1. Cook
2. Anderson
3. Broad
4. Boycott
5. Gower
6. Gooch
7. Root
8. Atherton
9. Strauss
10. Botham

Could throw out a few more but wouldn’t be sure, struggling now, shocking!!
