Here's a thread for discussing all the ITK and other stuff that goes in the brand new ticker thread - https://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-spurs-transfer-ticker.146630/

If all you want is Spurs related transfer news and none of the guff, the ticker thread is the place to stay updated, a quick check should be all you need. If you want to keep repeating the same opinion over and over like an idiot, then this is the thread for you.

Seriously, the rules will be more relaxed but ultimately discussion should be about the latest transfer news we have. In the futile hope that common sense will be applied and you do this for yourselves, longer discussions should be taken to the players threads.

This may change as we see how things go but right now:
  • The rules will be more relaxed, but ultimately the discussion should be on the latest transfer news we have.
  • Take any longer discussions on players to the Player Threads.
  • We don't want the "aggregator" type tweets in here but legitimate sources from twitter or elsewhere are fine (see Ticker to get an idea if you're not sure).
  • Relevant images and links are ok to post (e.g. a screenshot of something related) but no memes or random stuff and don't over do it.

You're going to end up proving me wrong and A&C will get his way :p

This is EXACTLY the kind of crap we don't want. I assume "daily hotspur" are not a renowned media publication. Where has that story come from? If there's a real source, use that. If there's not a real source, don't post it.

You are right, it's coming from Christian Falk (head of football at Sport Bild):

He has got a contract until 2022 so wouldn't be too expensive.

@Rob - worth making a list of the aggregators we don't want in here?

@Daily_Hotspur
@HotspurRelated
@thespursweb
@TheSpursExpress

Any more?

That's a good starting point but then we get people saying it's not on the list so @spursrumours69 is fine to post.

I think the rule of thumb is anything that's not a real publication or a real person with a real job linked to football should be avoided.

Head of football at sportbild is a good example as I've never seen that guy before but he's verified on twitter and looks legit so we've allowed it.

If I was allowed to post a picture, I would post the Celebrity Deathmatch referee saying "I'll allow it". Instead you'll all have to rely on your imaginations and provide the funny ratings in any case.

@EveryoneElse - if there's a bit in square brackets at the end of a tweet which is the source, GO FIND THAT SOURCE.

From my experience in the past few years he is the German equivalent of someone like Ornstein, very highly respected source.

Like you say it's best to check the bio of the tweet you are posting in this instance. An official title like 'head of football at X publication' and a blue tick should be minimum requirement really.

Well that’s a good start.

Exactly. The reason we banned twitter was that it's almost 100% rubbish and gives any WUM a platform to make stuff up. However, there are a small number of legit sources on there that it doesn't make much sense to ignore (e.g. AllyGold) just because they happen to use Twitter.

While I agree that it's easier to set a framework of a type of content to not post in here rather than try to maintain a list of specific outlawed Twitter accounts, we should definitely specifically outlaw @LastWordOnSpurs and RickSpur (as in Ricky Sacks, not the user on here with that username :cautious: ).

What's the thinking with stuff from The Athletic etc that sit somewhere between the two?

I’m ok with banning aggregators, but I was wondering what shall we do about info from either podcasts, Romano’s streams or Ali Gold’s videos? It’s usually the aggregator accounts that post that info to Twitter.

In my experience the stuff he discusses in podcasts is not that important, it's vague and he is spinning yarn to fill the airtime. These podcasts = $$ for him.

If it is actual concrete news, he tweets it, why wouldn't he.

I'd say it's rarely "news" and is more opinion pieces based on someone else's news. In that case, we'd prefer the source.
