Lol....league...naaah...a cup yes. League we were 30 points off it. Maybe the season after with more squad building.... love your optimism and hope you right.... after all I didn't expect 4th when the season began..... so who knows.


Okay peeps I've derailed this thread long enough and the mods have been fair and endulging. Rather pm of you want to engage further.

based on our results and points won post Conte the league is not so far out of our reach.

For me it's 3 players north of 30 and a prospect for the future. The window has juuuuust opened and I'll get excited when I see quality that's long term. Once again I'm not knocking our business.....I'm more circumspect at this moment in time.... not excited not disappointed etc.

Need to be giving Levy some credit here. I was super critical of him this time last year, but leopards apparently do change their spots.

I know I've said numerous times he's taken a back seat, but that is a backseat in picking the targets. He had and has been busting a gut to get what Conte wants. The cynic in me says he's doing it because he has no choice.

The romantic in me says he's doing it because this was his vision from the outset. Stadium, training ground, coach, then team.

Only part of this that isn't up for debate is that for whatever reason he's backing Conte and FP to the hilt and that should be applauded.

If we sign Bastoni (Sticks) then all we need as a defensive partnership is John Stones

Also we could sign a couple of midfielders named Hop @ Jump to go with Skipp and Schar from Newcastlel so that we can have Sonny @ Schar

That actually would be a really good window right there with just those three players, especially if all in for the first day of pre-season.

no it wouldn't. We've still got no cover up top or competition at LCB and people just expect the same players to be consistently brilliant over 60 games.

But it is a great start. Credit where it's due. It's just not genius... yet.

Credit should be going to Conte and FP. Clearly great communication between them and Conte knows what he wants and isn't afraid to say it. I think this is what a truly world class manager with leverage can achieve.

It helps Levy when the players have been free transfers as he doesn't have so much financial risk to weigh up.

Either way all positive for the club and us fans and hopefully we'll get the rest of the missing pieces soon.

Honestly think you are trying too hard to avoid giving levy any credit. The frees don’t have risk because they are known losses, what we pay in signing on fees and wages isn’t coming back. Ndombele had more downside risk but also more upside - it’s a change in thinking that levy has had to make and it looks like he has done so

Has there been any talk/rumour around Gundogen? Experienced No8 in his last year and likely valued around 30-40m? We should be looking this way rather than McKennie if we’re it’s winning mentality we’re going for nowadays…. Realise this might be the wrong thread, soz… Just asking

Just looking at it though out of the 5 players perisic is the only one that can really play both sides well

I get what you are saying but these players are the players requested by Conte, as fans we have called for the club to back this manager who truly is elite as we want him to stay and Levy is doing just that, Perisic still has years in his tank just look at Modric who is 3 or 4 years older then Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic etc these are all top athletes (hell one of them even smokes cigars lol) and Perisic is no different the guy is a machine and there is an awful lot to get excited about, we haven't even touched the Enic investment plus we have player sales and CL money, I feel a very big signing happening this window and then it is over to Conte to get it done on the pitch without being able to complain as they will be his players, this time Levy should be applauded imo.

This would be a really sensible signing, young, talented, attack minded. I’ve been saying for a while that we need more than 4 wing backs (due to fatigue, injuries, form etc). I would prefer this to signing say Kostic as although signing experience has it’s benefits we still need to be bringing in young exciting players for the longevity of the squad. Hopefully this is a genuine link as opposed to our name being banded about.
