What worries me is Harry has to get through this season, the euros, & then next season too with practically no break (unless he gets injured - forced break)

If indeed it was Poch who scuppered the deal for MD2 by insisting no loan back then its a pretty safe bet that he fully intended to use him this season IMO.
Which suggests he thinks we need a striker despite the official line and makes it all the more worrying we didn't have any other options seemingly lined up.

A startlingly uninformed post.

Genuinely dumbfounding.

I take my hat off to you sir.
So you think having one striker at our level of football is great !! Best chance of achieving something for years no back up!! Your up with your footy sir are you my boys side has more strikers than us and he is 12 SIR!!!

Would you absolve Poch of all blame?
Absofuckinglutely. I'm not fussed either way, signing, no signing, it'll all pan out well or it wont. It wont magically mean we're on the wrong track or that things aren't looking very positive…….I never lose sleep over Spurs :D

I'll blame Levy to the hilt however. Gotta keep the beesoddles on their toes :woot:

You're right.

We should of course be following the approach of an under 12s team.

More good stuff there.

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates on talksport

"Yes, we were interested in Berahino as well. But WBA have said to all he is not for sale this window. So, nothing there"

a few musings from today having had ssn on in the background
1) SSN pay their reporters to report so that their presenters can completely ignore them
2) there is some security guard who has a weird body tic when a tune that repeats the line the big bad wolf is played... I have no idea what the advert is for
3) Alfie bow likes to suck on a fishermans friend
4) are Watford money laundering buying and selling players within the ownership group
5) the name Fanni still makes me chuckle like Sid James
6) I wonder if Celtics signings will be enough to help them clinch the title again after many months of waiting
7)Well done Steven fletcher trying a different culture
8)Nobody is as clean as a squid or hippo like the kids using Andrex

Yes but this goes back to my post this morning about fans not listening to what they are told. I mean how many times has Poch said that if we cant get the very specific player(s) that he wants then we don't do any business and he'll work with what he's got? He's made it clear about thousand times that it isn't going to be a case of going 'Oh we cant get A, onto B, C, D...'

Again though what decent striker is going to come in and happily sit and wait for Kane to get injured?
Kane doesn't actually have to be injured for us to use another striker, he will need a rest to protect him from injury.

The fact is we have no alternative "out and out" striker and Poch has also said in the past that he would play more the one up front, he doesn't really have that option.

By that reasoning there is no point any of us expecting a striker in the summer.

Just on a loan basis the guy that has gone to Newcastle might have been worth a punt for a body on the bench, quick and had a good record at CSKA although not Roma.

Most good players back their own ability and are happy to wait for their chance. We are not a crap mid table team. Players would jump at the chance to join us imo.

I still think we missed a trick not getting someone on loan and allow us to reassess in the summer. Newcastle have shown there are decent strikers out there available this way. Doumbia may not be a world beater, but he's a proven goal scorer and lightning quick. Worst thing that could happen is he doesn't make much of an impact and we pay his wages for 4 months.

Much less risky than doing nothing imo.

We could sign a striker then he and Kane both get injured in the first game. We could sign no striker and Kane stays fit for the whole season. We could sign a striker and finish 5th. We could sign no striker and win the league.

Personally glad we didn't get SB. Not for any potential personality deficiencies but for not rating him and not wanting him to take to someone else's squad/bench place. Our system means lone striker is not so much a central figure and more a part of a fluid system. A system that we've seen work to good (sometimes better...) Effect without Kane.

To dare is to do is an on the pitch motto for me. Not a boardroom one...
