The thing is, I'm not sure that Chelsea signing Martinez would necessarily help Inter out of their dilemma. They need to raise money.

That won't happen if it's a swap deal. And if they just sell Martinez, they'll need to find a replacement for him. And that will be very expensive. It will also piss off Inzaghi.

Much easier to replace a centre back than to replace a centre forward.
See the Arthur / Pjanic swap for an example of bullshit creative accounting between clubs, so it is very possible this deal could make financial sense for Inter, unfortunately.

Trix had a hunch this may happen. Lukaku’s lawyer will supposedly be in Milan tomorrow to start negotiations. Inter still need money tho so not sure how that swap deal works for them. Unless Chelsea offer Lukaku + cash for Lautaro
Yes, but per ITK, they need 60-70 million, which they will not pay on top of it

We are lucky that there are plenty of good LCB options available at the moment. I've more concerned about the RWB position, especially seeing as how important the position is to Conte's system
Depends on who you'd be happy with at LCB. Bastoni and Gvardiol are the clear standouts for me but it seems like Gvardiol is happy to stay at RB for now. Lenglet would be a big risk but if we could get him back to Sevilla/early Barca form he'd be useful. After that it's looking a bit thin.

Agree though that RWB is very important. If Spence is staying with Forest then I'm not sure where we're at.

Careful here though as we don't know what Inter do and dont need to do, not even FP or Conte do.
It seems like they do as they wouldn't normally even talk Bastoni but you never know. Some sort of creative deal with a team like Chelsea might work for them.

Whatever. We’ve heard Gvardiol is our backup plan. If that’s the situation, move the hell on, don’t let Chelsea screw up our plans completely by getting strung along again for something that won’t happen.

Starting to look like Chelsea may have rumbled us again with Inter transfers.

It’s also horrendous business from them, spending £97mil on Lukaku just to give him back plus cash for the other forward at the club. They’re basically valuing (we assume) Lautaro at £120-130million. Which is insanity. Half of that would’ve got him last year.

Don't they want Gvardiol as well...?

Chelsea still owe a chunk of the Lukaku fee to Inter. The only thing I can see is Chelsea sign Martinez straight up and sell Lukaku elsewhere. No way they pay for Martinez and send them Lukaku as well. Bottom line is Inter need to make a big sale and sign some cheaper replacement. Bastoni for Bremer seems obvious otherwise Martinez for some other cheap replacement (which Lukaku is not).

I think I'm falling behind here, are people making the assumption that this will fill Inter's need to raise funds and mean they can keep Bastoni?

Can we stop being so precious about our transfer activity?!

This is precisely why Paratici has lined up several deals tentatively and let's be fair, after the Diaz deal 'fell through' we did pretty well with Kulusevski as a consolation prize!

It is, but it's surely now a case of minimising how horrendous that business was for them. Tuchel wants Lukaku out, he is open to return to them, and they need cash and never wanted to sell him in the first place. You don't need to be a genius to see it all adds up.

They’re such a wasteful club. I really hope they spin off into mediocrity sometime soon

I know it’s been said that it’ll be one player but surely just one doesn’t solve the financial issues?

Bastoni for 60 and Bremer for 35 is only a profit outlay of 25 on transfer fee. By the time you do loyalty payments it’s probably only 20. If you do the Lukaku and Lautaro swap plus say 20m to Inter that makes it a lot more feasible. Inter fans would likely be overjoyed with Lukaku coming back too.

Lukaku loan 2 year loan is what is being spoken about, and confusion afterwards. Just cannot see that scenario myself.
