Sturridge has a reputation at Chelsea of being a prima-dona - a few of my mates are season ticket holders at Chelsea and would be happy to get rid of him - they believe he is too selfish, too arrogant and thinks he is better than what he is. I personally agree, and I think we should be setting our sights higher than him.

Well, that indicates one of two things: 1) We might not be THAT keen, for instance he might be back-up to someone; or 2) We won't pay what Chelsea are demanding, but Liverpool surely will. Considering the money they've spent on Henderson and Carroll in particular around 15 million must be an absolute steal for them.

I'd be very happy to see him come to the Lane, and I think 10-15 million for a proven PL forward with great potential at just 22 is a very good deal compared to, say, 2-3 times that for someone like Hazard, or even 3-4 times that for someone like Hulk. We need cover on the wings, and we need pace up front - Sturridge gives us the option of both. And from the sound of things - I'd say almost confirmed here by JJ - he also knows our new manager quite well.
Its about wages? He's on £75K+ at chavs we cant pay him that....?

If he's the lead striker, sure. His selfishness in that position would fit. If he's on the right next to our main striker, then it would piss off Adebayor or whoever when they're in good positions and he would just try audacious shots.

Like playing with Defoe then?

It might be personal opinion that he'll end up at Liverpool but it indicates an interest in the first place and for that reason was deemed worthy of an airing.

I thought the whole reason Sturridge ended up at chelsea was due to nobody else being willing to pay him the wages he wanted? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Considering we need 3 strikers (assuming Defoe goes) then why not both!! Personally I get the impression that Huntelaar has no interest in coming to us so that's a no go. My preferable summer would be Ade, Sturridge and Luuk De Jong. Harry Kane can have the number 4 slot.

It needs reiterating that Huntelaar was one of the job lot of surplus-to-requirements Real players we inquired after three years ago and he didn't want to know. Real agreed a fee with Stuttgart but he blew them out too, even though they had CL and are hardly a small club, and waited to see if one of the big boys came in for him. Having flopped at Milan, he didn't have much choice but to go to Schalke, but I wonder if he still feels his genius deserves greater things.

Wasn't there ITK or a big rumour last week that VDV had been talking us up to Huntelaar, and that he was interested?

One of the ITK's said that VDV had been strongly encouraging him to come to spurs while they were together at the euro's so if VDV is persuasive enough can never say never

I think that was probably just rumour, but they are definitely big mates. He might have revised his opinion for all any of us know, but it certainly seemed we weren't good enough for him before. Mind you, I'm not 100% sure that he's good enough for us.

Sturridge
Sigurdsson
Dembele

All individually good players. What kind of intent would it signal if we happened to sign all 3? Can we see them all featuring on a regular basis for us?
Personally I think we'll see one of Sigurdsson or Dembele, with Mum already through the checkout at an unnamed frozen food store.
And I'd imagine Sturridge is a cheaper alternative to Remy.

Can't see Chelsea doing any business with us unless Modric is part of any deal

Can't see Sturrige working out at Liverpool, too similar to Suarez in terms of selfishness

We have no idea if Chelsea still want Modric - it seems like it was AVB who wanted him (and wasn't backed sufficiently by RA to get him) so it may well be that they are less bothered now.

I can't believe that being very accurate, for him to be considered too arrogant by Chelsea supporters it would make him a **** of epic proportions ;)

Maybe its the optimistic Spurs fan in me, but I want to see at least 1-2 players who will be first teamers and make the first team better. Vertonghen fits the bill (I hope). Gylfi/Sturridge are more squad players.
I find it hard to see Gylfi in a team with Van der Vaart and find it hard to see Sturridge playing if we have Ade/Lennon/Bale.

And if we dont have Ade, I want someone better than Sturridge as our 1st choice striker.

That's thinking like Harry. It is a squad game and these two could easily come into the team and help us get the result we need. We have suffered recently from not rotating players and I'd happily have these two playing for us instead of one of our current lot if it meant the players stayed fit and fresh.

I don't think we will sign KJH, based on nothing but gut instinct, but we are different proposition to what we were three years ago. We have a better squad, better players and we play a decent brand of football.

If VDV has spoken positively about his experience that might alter his opinion, plus he has done the nomadic moves from big club to big club with limited success. Being a striker I'd guess there is a bit of ego attached to him and if he looks at the chances we create in terms of quantity, anyone with a lot of faith in their ability should backing themselves to make a lot of headlines with a healthy number of goals. I'd guess it would appeal.

Scored 53 for club and country last year, more than Gomez and RVP so if we create them I'd guess he will score here.

  ..... o_O

Are you serious, his goal scoring record is phenomenal. Now if we'd had a player even half as prolific play for us in the last 4 years then perhaps i'd say you have a point, perhaps. But Huntelaar not being good enough for us is just ridiculous, the guy is far beyond the levels of any striker we've had for a good while now.

Plenty of room for Sigurdsson and Dembele and VDV and Sandro and Parker and Huddlestone and Livermore in a 50 game season. I for one don't want to get I February and watch us fade again. Would be gutted to lose Modric but if we can bring in 2 mids and a forward for the money we get for him (Sig, Dembele and Sturridge) I feel our squad would be stronger.
