We'd also be letting him go from a position of strength. I very much doubt if Poch wanted saw him as pivotal and wanted him to stay he would be sold, as he only just signed a new deal. Levy has shown that if he doesn't want to sell he won't.Difference is Walker is probably the weakest member of a strong first 11. Campbell was captain and by far the standout player of a mediocre team.
Was the goat cryptic answer given ?
Walker "world class player"???? LMAOI'm thinking that the Walker leaving situation is, hopefully, going to be reminiscent of the time when Judas left us. Initial angst at losing a World class player, only to find we had better in the wings with Ledders.
Everything I've seen or read about KWP leads me to believe that this could potentially be the case, the difference being that Walker isn't going to the scum and we're the ones doing the rinsing.
Early doors obviously, but the signs are promising regarding the boy.
Which one?
During the years that Liverpool and Utd reigned supreme, if my memory isn't playing tricks, I seem to recall they added 2 or 3 players every summer even if they had won a top trophy. In my imho, this is a sound policy and one we should adhere to. Yes, by the end of last season we were more than capable of beating anyone in the EPL. However, the top teams are actively improving their squads which won't have gone unnoticed by MP so I am confident he is beavering away ensuring we too will have improved our squad.
COYS
Just because "Team a" did it doesn't make it right. Because "Team b" did it last season doesn't mean it will have the same effect for "Team c" this season.
Why are so many people caught up in this whole Transfer Window is open so we need to ensure that we need to buy at least someone.
2 seasons we had a terrible end to the season and finished 3rd. Last season we finished 2nd. OMG things are going so wrong with our current strategy!!
"But all the teams round us are spending loads of money so that means we need too" I hear you cry.
2 seasons ago we finished 4 points above Man Utd. They spent over 150m last summer. This season we finished 17 points above them.
We have a settled Manager
We have a settled Team
We have cohesion built over no major changes over past 2 seasons.
I agree that we might need some additions. But please tell me who in the current 1st team you would like to drop?
Now tell me what big name signing will come to Spurs to sit on bench?
When Liverpool were succesful (and Although I am 46 I can only just remember that far back ) football was different, it wasn't down to a dickswinging contest for the biggest Wallet.
United did buy players but not Marquet signings every year. If a world class player was available they would take him.
THFC is in a very enviable position at the moment. A majority of our first team would be wanted the teams around us.
We don't need to go on a spending spree.
Yes we would all love to go all out and splash millions out on a couple of players so we can swing our dicks with the City and United fans.
But we don't need to. So just relax amd enjoy it for what it is.
I think you're forgetting the first half of the season - terrible in Europe and barely balanced playing mid week and in the prem - we picked up a number of horrible draws, really shot ourselves in the foot for the run home where we had no cup, european football to worry about. We seemingly started to pick up after we only had 1 priority to play for. That in itself is a big problem
It's only a "problem" if you want to make it one, all teams lose form at some point in the season is it not a problem for them to?
if you want to make it one? i'm pretty sure it was made one - it wasn't a problem for you that we couldn't compete in more than 1 league? it wasn't a problem that we embarrassed ourselves not only in CL but couldn't even make a run in the EL? i'd say that is an objective problem
In a way Poch is here at the worst time, for him and us.
Imagine if we'd had the stadium done five years ago and it was mostly paid off now, and Poch joined us with no restrictions. The things he could achieve.
In contrast we're looking at the best manager we've had in our lifetime having to compete against teams with infinitely more available resources, while he has to contend with two stadium moves in two years and the now announced inevitability of losing some of his best players in the near future.
I feel for Poch.
I like the way as well the statement contradicts itself by saying we're hell bent on keeping the team together, but we'll be selling players yeah? Right.

I completely disagree with this post. I am sure Poch was made well aware of the situation about stadiums and finance when he joined.
I haven't heard anyone say Poch is currently unhappy.. In fact I think he sees us as a perfect match as he has stated before he is more interested in training up and moulding young players than buying star players and our youth set up is providing him with alot of very good young players that he could mould.
I. Must of missed the announcement that we were inevitably losing our best players in the near future. I saw ITK stating we will need to sell a player or 2 a season but it didn't say the best players that we can't replace. Surely when we have alot of good players coming through it's natural to sell a couple of players a season to then leave a gap for the players to come through and invest in another area we are weak in. Nothing has said we are selling players that Poch wants to keep.
In a way we are a victim of our success, if we had been between 4th and 6th the last couple of years it wouldn't have been so much of an issue. As we have come 2nd the last couple of years everyone's expectations have massively increased.
No but is a good benchmark to how we are improving/developing.Past performance is not indicative of future results.
Thanks, but you've clearly completely mis-read it as well as disagreed with it.
I never suggested Poch wasn't aware of stadiums or financing issues before he joined. I said imagine what he could achieve without those issues.
I never said Poch was unhappy. I said I felt sorry for him.
You didn't miss the announcement at all - you've just quoted it. I was commenting on the ITK as taken at face value. It quite clearly doesn't mean the likes of Fazio and Townsend when it says we'll need to sell players in the future. We do that already. Why would they provide ITK that at some point some players might leave Spurs? I think we all know the club will sell players. The clear implication is that we'll have to sell some of our best players. Otherwise why even say anything?
It's a bit odd you've missed this or dismissed it as an impossibility considering we're about to sell the best right back in the league to one of our closest rivals.
Yes, we are a victim of our own success, which is exactly what I was saying at the beginning of my post. Glad you agree.
To add to this I have a theory about fullbacks and Pochetino. I think if he can get player who is a bit of an athlete and has a bit of skill he can usually turn them into a really good fullback. He then works them so hard that they can only play at that level for a few years. He realises this so tends to sell his fullbacks at what he sees as the point where he has had the best of them and they would have the highest value. This is why the fullbacks don't seem to play at that level for their new club. As Pep requires the same from his fullbacks I don't see Walker maintaining this level for so long if he goes to Manchester City. I also think for this reason either this coming year or the year after we would be saying Tripper is the best right back in the league. Hence why losing Walker might not be the same as losing our best players.Sorry for misreading but you never said we were a victim of our success. You didn't take the ITK at face value you extrapolated to an announcement that we are losing our best players. We may be about to lose the best right back in the league and it may be to a competitor neither of these have been confirmed. But you can be pretty sure is if it happens it is happening on our terms. I would also say it is being done as Poch has a plan and doesn't see Walker as indispensable.
