He needn't of looked second best at all. I think I'm right in thinking we were/are prepared to go a little higher than the fee the likes of Forest were quoted.

Whilst entirely Gibson's perogative, he's kind of made a mug of himself by his own doing.

Realism or Ridicule.

Gibson is acting exactly like Levy would.

He is looking after his own clubs best interest, and none of us would expect any difference if the roles were reversed. In fact this is what Levy is doing with the Berj transfer to Ajax.

No it is not. Two totally different scenarios.

If he was telling other clubs they could buy him for 5 mil euro's less than Ajax I'd agree completely. That's not the case though is it, Berg's price has been set and anyone that matches it can have him. That's the difference.

The one who broke the fee being agreed today added that Everton & Utd offered 5m more for Bergwijn. Assuming that’s correct (and the source is pretty impeccable for dutch players related ) then we are perhaps applying a tax on clubs where we deem they can afford it. It’s not unheard of to charge clubs more who have bigger resources

First I've heard of United being in for him tbh, and Everton were only in the mix when we tried to offload him as a part exchange for Richarlison. Which I might add neither the player or Everton were ever really keen on. Just sounds like Ajax trying to spin things because they are going to have to pay more than they said they would go to.

DL made us reputation for wanting to buy low and sell high! Welcome to the negotiations of a lot of chairman over the years with DL I guess. All fair in love and war.

yeah that would be my take on it too. I wouldn’t have believed it had it not come from that journo but as you say, it could be on Ajax.

I guess clubs know we have 150m in the bank and are chancing their arm by adding a spurs tax.

Aka We’re massive haha

If anyone is stressing, don't!

These quieter periods don't mean that we're inactive, it's actually quite the opposite currently.

There is a lot going on with Conte wanting at least two more in before we go to Korea.

Stay positive ??

I don't know how anyone can be stressed really.

It's the most excited I've been for the start of a new season in a very long time. What a difference a year makes compared to last summer's fiasco!

For the first time in a long time, i dont get stressed by the lulls anymore. We have got a shrewd operator with cash we're happy to spend for a manager that'll utilise it best. Getting everything right so far ?
