After yesterday, a high energy CM is a must for this window. Although Dembele had a decent game, and Stambo wasn't as terrible as many have said, the drop off in team performance is painfully clear with both Mason and Bentaleb out. Along with a versatile forward, it's our most pressing need. Approaching this window a lot said CB was a priority, but Faz is looking really solid now and our cover there is adequate so it's not as much of an issue

With the squad as it is, reinforcements are essential. I'd hate for Poch to have to use the players he has removed from the 1st team picture for diciplinary reasons because he has no viable options due to lack of activity this window. I feel it would undermine him and what he is trying to do long term

There is no chance we bring anyone in this window. We're all dreaming. Maybe we'll sell 2 or 3 players. And that is a strong maybe when Dear Leader haggles to a tenth of a penny.

Them being a detriment to the team ethos means nothing to Dear Leader. Just ask Andre Villas Boas

The accounts wont tell us anything. ENIC are an international company and move money all round the globe.

We'll always declare a small profit (or loss) in our accounts, because we won't want to pay tax on bigger profits.

We may not show a big surplus in our accounts, but notice how a mysterious 'TH Property Limited' paid for the £50m worth of groundworks that are going on on the site at the moment. I suspect a lot of that was originally our tv revenue.

I think you'll find that Joe Lewis put in £40m.

I think that's realistic. Might bring in some 17 year old 'prospect' who promptly vanishes from the face of the Earth, but I'd be very surprised if we signed anybody to strengthen our starting eleven.

Bentaleb is so important for us. He comes back from injury and we go on an unbeaten streak. He goes away to the ACN and we immediately lose a game. He brings an energy and tenacity we just don't have without him.
We need to shift some dead wood pronto so we can bring in the reinforcements we all know we need.

That isn't necessarily the case. We posted a massive profit in 2009 and all of the clubs that have produced their financial reports thus far for last season have posted massive gains from the previous season. It wouldn't remotely surprise me if we posted a post tax profit of 20+ million pounds for last season. I wonder whether that would change the tenor of folks around here who think the club simply are stretched to the limit financially and can't spend more on wages or transfer fees?

The passing yesterday also seemed to be mostly backwards from central midfield and in the final third there was nobody making runs into box. I think missing Bentaleb and Mason really showed yesterday. In second half also the space between back four and midfield were huge at times. With Benji and Dembele we are missing a lot pace to press the oppositions midfield.. McCarthy would really be nice in so many ways..

That was to pay off the debts from the training ground to help us get better credit for stadium loans

True. But it would mean that we have spent £90m at least on reducing our debt and building the new stadium in the last 2 years alone.
Everyone having conspiracy theories of where the money is going just need to think on that.

Bigger return, better prospect and with a career ahead of him than either Ade or Soldado. Has pace and ability. No brainer really at that price.
