Would prefer Benteke over Bony, that would certainly be my preference - he's potentially better IMO. Also no African Cup of Nations, he's younger and we've a decent Belgian contingent here.

We won't be signing bony end of story, Swansea don't need to sell so the price would be North of 30m which we certainly won't pay!!! We will most probably go sniffing in the Russian market knowing levy as the arse has fallen out of the rouble and there are potential bargains!

To me he seemed to make it very clear to the Swansea fans, after he scored against us, that he was staying at Swansea. No chance for us in the January Window IMO.

No chance us signing Bony especially at £30m +.

Like Trix said in his recent ITK - the reason Paul Mitchell was brought in was so we don't end up spunking £30m on already established players.

Well we know he's available but he's just going to cost a packet as Monk said and I think they'd cost him up super high in the summer as well as Jan as they don't necessarily want to get rid.

They want top dollar, full stop.

The thing that might be on our minds is sticking Tommy Carroll in as part of a deal and maybe sticking another player in the mix and bunging some cash on top of it + add-ons.

That's the kind of thing I'd be expecting.
Naughton and Carroll maybe plus £15m or so.

Exactly, i would be very surprised if we go after any of our previously known targets now.

Harry Kane is our number 1 striker & we're junking a fortune on Ade & Soldado.

I want another striker but would be happiest with another young player with good potential rather than some crazy priced battering ram like Benteke or Bony.

Just because Kane is our number 1 striker doesn't mean he's not still a "young player with good potential" as you put it. I'm loving his rise from nowhere as much as the next Spurs fan, but he's still only started a handful of PL games.

We don't need another "potential" striker imo. We need a more established striker, that will be a good fit for this league, possibly to play with Kane or if not to take the pressure off him.

EDIT: not that I think we'll be signing Benteke or Bony in a million years (because that will actually involve us putting our money where our mouth is ). They are the sort of signings we need though imo if we have any pretensions of finishing in the top 5.

Aye, hopefully we listen to him. We don't have a great recent record of listening to who the best players for our team will be.

I think the difference is probably going to be that Mitchell will be highlighting cheaper options, like he did at the Saints. We can all name potentially very good players over £25m, but realistically outside of a Bale type windfall we will never spend that much.
