The JJ snippet, Gards info, the transfer request... All points to us tapping him up unfortunately. Whilst I want him at our club, if it is true I've always thought we're a bit more classy than that. I guess that's what football has become a dog eat dog world and after the Madrid Bale tapping up, have to say I've become desensitized to it.

Sorry to tell you this but it goes on in nearly EVERY transfer, always has and probably always will. Maybe some is more blatant than others but you need to get the nod before pursuing your target. Its how you do it that becomes the sticking point 'if' you get caught.
Villa was always going to be iffy due to wages and age.
Croatian lads seems to be dragging on and i do hope we are not trying to be too clever with the money......
Outgoings not moving as we are after big money and not surprisingly no-one is taking them off our hands.
Benteke is a lot of money so you guys can ruminate if DL will buy...? I dont know at this point.

Cheers for info JJ... Shame to hear that about the tapping up but I guess it's something that's become part of the modern game.
I've said since you linked us, main guy I want is Halilovic; it's illogical as he won't be able to help us for few seasons but when he can, will be ridiculously good.

Can't see Lambert wanting JD, he likes younger players. Hence he's trying to get shut of Given, Bent & Ireland etc. Possibly Livermore, Naughton plus cash would appeal to them more.

JJ, so is it fair to say that Benteke's transfer request was directly related to our interest in him or could it be another suitor (Arsenal, Chelsea?)?

If the ITK is true (which I've no doubt it is) it could be that Chadli was shown around with Benteke as his "guest". They did spend a year together in Standard Liege as teenagers and are part of the Belgian set up together. The Villa forums have him still on holidays so its possible.. Hmmm..
