Tamori and Nketiah have been dropped from the squad for tonight.

I wonder if any of the current talent pool would actually reject a call up from England whilst Southgate is still in charge.

Why would Southgate even look at the talent pool of youths, he has the likes of Maguire and Henderson to pick from! Plus his love of playing full backs out of position.

Really though, Nketiah wasn't going to play anyway, Kane will start and Watkins off the bench if needed.

Tomori, I had to Google him to remember who he was.... He was to play also, or probably be an option off the bench. So I don't think it will be much of a loss

We're deep into qualifying and everyone has their on field relationships like the CBs. Maguire for all the social media nonsense around him, rarely puts a foot wrong for England.

I doubt anyone will reject a call up just because it's Southgate, you know the one who has taken us to semi finals and finals. If we weren't qualifying or never getting out of groups at tournaments I could maybe understand it, but he has a decent tournament record. And the squad always seems to have a decent vibe about it whoever is selected. Seems like a fun group to be around to me.

As for Nketiah, was never starting over Kane, the captain, v Italy in a game where we still need points.

Fairly hard to justify a lot of those selections for tonight.

Maguire and Stones have 12 minutes of Premier League play between them this season.

Phillips also hasn't played at all.

Also having no left back in the squad is odd.

Trippier is one of the best sources of assists in Europe right now and yet we play him out of position.

Hopefully the quality of the likes of Kane and Bellingham sees us through.

Stones is probably fair enough. He's only not played due to injury so if he's fit enough I don't why he wouldn't play. The other two not so much.

Tamori hasn't been given the chance to have any chemistry with anyone despite playing better than all the other CB's except for John Stones in recent seasons.

Nketiah shouldn't be in the squad.
