There's never been a race without a major incident?
Suppose it depends what you mean by a major incident, a safety car doesn’t always signify a major incident, neither does a red flag. Off the top of my head, 2016 didn’t have one, and the 2018 race was excellent. Several minor incidents in 2018, but nothing major. I haven’t researched that though, so if I’m misremembering either of them and the incidents within, I’ll happily be corrected

All the teams were being a bunch of greedy wotsits running tyres down to 10% at those speeds was just asking for trouble, lucky it was only two cars that got in to trouble. Teams should be dragged over the coals for this not tyres

Pirelli said the tyres shouldn’t see any fall off at Baku until lap 40.
Lando’s tyre blew on lap 30/31.
That’s not pushing it to the last 10% at all.

They will try and defend themselves, blaming it on debris, but the same tyre, on the same stretch of the track???

Agree about the 40 lap messages from the manufacturer, but if you can see the tyres are running 10% (as the were on Perez in the graphic compared to Hamilton during the race), you have to pay attention to the data. Which they didn’t (despite a previous blowout) in a data driven sport, rather than what should happen from the manufacturers mouth.

During the race Red Bull said they were watching the data and there was no indication that something was going to happen.

You confused me then! Stroll went first and yes tyre for that but I thought it looked like a puncture to be honest, granted it went quick but there was wobbles and then he spun, Max just flipped round. Having seen that how much longer did Red Bull run Max for? They saw what happened and kept him out running regardless. It's not all one way traffic on this issue IMO

Just as an edit: discussing with my SiL as she's an enormous F1 fan and am of the opinion the teams should be made to run every tyre type, force them in to two stops, thoughts?

The data will show its running at a low viability percentage. It won’t show that the inner wall is going to sheer away, but you’d think having seen it happen already that race, that they might take a bit of extra care when they know the tyres are coming to the end of their life.

That’s absolute bullshit call by the stewards to penalise Norris. He had the racing line through that corner, and even Horner said it was no more than a racing incident.

And now Perez is going to be penalised for exact same move, if not more aggressive on LeClerc right????

Answer: Yes

What a great race, silly penalty's aside. At least they are consistent I guess. Lando deserved DoTD, what a season he is having. Kid is quick, and it looks like he has learned a heck of a lot over the last couple of years.

Gutted for Williams, car held on for as long as it could but it is just worse on its tyres than the Alpine, plus Alonso had looked quick all weekend. Russell is finally getting the midfield racing experience he should have been getting 2 years ago though, feel like he is driving like he knows the second Merc seat is his to win.

Lando is the real deal. My favorite driver on the grid.

I thought Verstappen was weaving a bit down the straight.

Hamilton knew he could push Verstappen wide on the corner though
