Another LB would surely be excessive, unless we got rid of Davies and Nuno decided Sessegnon is not a LB?

Surely LB is a question for next window, Sess will get conf + cups this season to show that he can make it with us, and Davies is a perfectly capable backup in an emergency.

Totally valid points.

Firstly, I'm not convinved that RS will be playing LB any time soon. I don't think he's had a game in that position for years.

Davies is a great back up (and professional), but fundamentally changes the way we attack down the left when he's playing in place of Reggie. In my mind, we need players who are similar that can seamlessly slot into the first XI when there's an injury/suspension.

Incidentally, I'd still keep Davies because he's a great hard-working utility defender and great for the dressing room.

I think people asking for a creative CM have to take a look at the way Nuno is setting up the team at the moment. We are stacked in that position. We have Dele, GLC, Ndombele in that role and none of them look likely to leave. If we do get a CM, it will likely be to support PEH and Skipp who are both playing alongside each other. Whether you think Dele, GLC, Ndombele are good enough is beside the point IMO.

I understand the Son not a striker crowd, I do. And ideally I want another striker like a Giroud figure to come in, bench surf and play for scraps of minutes.

However, we've proven over the last few years, that regardless of who is on the bench, and who is manager, when Kane is injured Son plays up top. We can see that, so will potential strikers. Son is incredibly highly regarded. He's not a hold up player, but not all strikers are. You can bet a shit older striker will not just think, I'll get minimal minutes behind Kane, they'll think will I get any minutes if Son is the Kane back up?

So, how do we limit our reliance on Son and Kane and mitigate the risk of losing both to injury? We manage their fitness and minutes much better. You bring in wingers to allow you to rest Son. You take Kane off the pitch when it's prudent to do so.

Again, I'd love an army of 20 goal a season forwards. But blooding Scarlett the way Greenwood has been for united in the past 2 seasons also excites me.

So, I am expecting the following to potentially happen today...

Emerson in, Aurier out.
Traore in.

A few fringe / youth players out on loan.

Looking like we're done after the Emerson Royal deal goes through.

Think it's been a decent window all things considered. The squad is getting younger, and we have a high number of players yet to reach their peak. Would ideally have swapped Lucas for a player in the just about to peak (Adama?) and moved Aurier and Carter-Vickers on.

Lots of lazy posts saying how many right backs we have.

Tanganga is a centre back who is playing right back. He may establish himself as a right back long term, but at the moment he is still a centre back playing out of position and it limits us attacking wise that side.

Aurier wants to leave and will not sign a contract - I’m sure we’re trying to move him on too but not always that easy. Fab can’t provide miracles and force someone to sign him.

And our other right back is Doherty. Enough said.

So if you feel need to complain about having all these right backs kindly slap yourself in the face continuously until you get it out of your system.

We were crying out for a new proper right back.

You can be 100% sure that if it, for some reason, falls through…it will suddenly be a much bigger deal than it is now

If we end the day with the need for a striker, wonder if we'll be one of the clubs after Mario Mandžukić, who's being offered around out of contract. Paratici has signed him before.

If he was happy enough with a Giroud/Llorente role and didn’t have massive wage or signing-on fee demands then… sure, maybe, I guess?
