Sorry Riggi - I don't know where 'So' came from in my post, I was just replying about the Podcast. Fat fingers I guess.

How are we a Jewish club if Ajax are not ?
We aren't a Jewish club and never have been, when I grew up supporting Spurs it was never even mentioned except by West Ham fans who thought everyone from Tottenham was a Jew. We do have many Jewish fans as do Arsenal but then we would wouldn't we, with a large local Jewish population, no our "Yid" identity comes from location not club.
Didn't listen to the debate on 5-live but I'll bet nobody made that clear as nobody in the media really has a clue about that as nobody in the media comes from Tottenham.

Johnny Speight - who created "Till death us do part" and the lead character Alf Garnett who was a West 'Am fan and hated them "Jews up at Spurs" plus every other minority group whether was by race, religion, culture or sexuality.

Warren Mitchell, a Jew of Russian Jewish descent ironically played Alf was in fact born in Stoke Newington (my old stamping ground) and also a Spurs Supporter. Back in those days that locality usually meant that you were either a Tottenham or an Arsenal fan. Very rarely anything else. If you were you were an odd ball.

I'm proud we have a great mix of fans. Cypriots, blacks, gays, muslim, catholic, atheist every type you can imagine, we got the whole set. The name yids is a defence to them all and i personally don't link it just to our jewish fan base. I am proud to be a yid, it means you are a spurs fan and your background, colour, religion doesnt matter.

We should be proud to be a Jewish Club. At least I am proud of that.
Its not a matter of being proud or not. I am proud of the fact we have a large Jewish support as we have but its not the same thing.
