I was just looking at our last six games and they all look winnable. However, it's easy to imagine us can making hard work of trips to West Brom, Stoke and West Ham.

Moreover, I still feel that six wins out of six wouldn't be enough to help us achieve our aspirations. So where would this leave us finishing, and what would we be happy with?

We're currently on 56 points and if we were to win our next 6 games, we would be left on 74 points.

Arsenal are the only team we can even remotely speculate on catching in the top 4 and they're currently on 64 points, then there is the problem of Everton who are on 60 points and with a game in hand. United are on 57 points with an extra game played.

Arsenal's fixtures:

Everton (A) = 1

West Ham (H) = 3

Hull (A) = 1

Newcastle (H) = 3

West Brom (A) = 3

Norwich (A) = 3

Total points after 38 games: 78

Everton's fixtures:

Arsenal (H) = 1

Sunderland (A) = 1

Palace (H) = 3

United (H) = 1

Southampton (A) = 1

City (H) = 0

Hull (A) = 3

Total points after 38 games: 70 points.

United's fixtures:

Everton (A) = 1

Norwich (H) = 3

Sunderland (H) = 3

Hull (H) = 3

Southampton (A) = 3

Total points after 38 games: 70 points

Being a realist/slightly harsh on ourselves, here's how I could potentially see our run-in panning out:
Our fixtures:

Sunderland (H) = 3

West Brom (A) = 1

Fulham (H) = 3

Stoke (A) = 1

West Ham (A) = 3

Villa (H) = 3

Total points after 38 games: 70 points

So according to my semi-illogical points allocation system, there we have it. Everton, United and ourselves potentially tied and our shitty goal difference coming back to fuck us and leave us 7th (depending if you see no Europa as a bad thing)...

With that said, I'm split on what I want to happen in regards to finishing positions, the Europa winners next year will get CL, potentially our best way of qualification in the near future?
On the flip side, I'd love to see what our squad could do with a year of settling in and no Europa distractions, meaning we don't suffer any 'hangovers' in the latter part of the season.

So, anything you guys agree/disagree with? The romantic in me really wanted to try and predict the results in a way that would lead to us dramatically taking 4th place from Le Arse, but it's hard to see where they are dropping an extra 5 points.

You say harsh on ourselves, I say kind on ourselves at the moment, how we are playing and with everyone we have to play basically having something to fight for

Quality prevails, Cardiff are fighting for their lives today but were turned over 3-0 by Palace, a fellow relegation candidate.

I would say W'ham and Villa will know they are safe by the time we play them... So leaving us with only something meaningful to gain from the 3 points.

If we win 6 games and get 74 points in a season

Will people call Sherwood our best manager ever in the PL for getting the highest points total?

It worries me greatly that we are (mostly) playing teams fighting for their lives and it would appear our lot couldn't care less. So I think they are all tough and I don't want to second guess any result.
(I'm pretty pessimistic right now)

Sunderland - 3pts
Brom - 3pts
Fulham - 3pts
Stoke - 1pt
West Ham - 1 pt
Villa - 3pts

I get to the same 70 pt total as Enfield, but with a couple of different results.

A 7th place finish would suit me perfectly. I really don't want a strong finish to the season as I don't want the remotest possibility of Timmy staying on into next season which I fear may be the case if he were to let's say win 4 or 5 of the last 6.

Why? Getting into the Europa League gives us another chance at getting into the CL

I think people are forgetting that whoever wins next season's EL gets into the Chmpions League play off round.

I'll take that all day.

I know I deliberated that point. I just don't know, I change my mind so regularly on it.

I mean there are more pro's than con's to being in it, just feels like an uninterrupted season with the correct manager could see us mount a serious assault on the top of the table. We seem incapable of being in Europa and doing the aforementioned.

Ask me on the last day of the season if we're fighting tooth and nail for it, I'd probably tell you I want it.

Just think of the points we could have had, if we had won the games we should have!!!!!!

Think Fulham will beat us again at home....especially if they get another positive result before playing us- they'll play out of their skins.

And their wee manager will be licking his lips at the sight of Tim - master of disaster.

We'll pummel Sunderland mind you. Think we'll lose at West Brom, again they'll be playing out of their skins.

A point at Stoke in a nothing game and I fancy us to beat the Pikey's and Villa on the final day.

10 points for me - 66 points.

Agreed.

We haven't got further than the quarters over the last few years and it will be even harder to win with the added incentive of CL football for whoever wins it next season. Although on the other hand, if LVG gets the job and we have teething problems at the beginning but come strong at the end then it may be our only hope.

For me the biggest con of qualifying is near enough every home game being on a fucking Sunday. We've had 2 Saturday 3pm games this season which is ridiculous frankly. Obviously TV is to blame for this as well, but the match day experience and atmosphere in WHL is usually so much better on a Saturday than a Sunday.

Has it really been 2? That's disgusting.

So were Chelsea, and Man City only scraped by them thanks to a Dzeko strike. Quality doesn't necessarily 'always' prevail.

Why would people say that? How would he have got the highest points total? I'm not the smartest person in the world, but I'm pretty sure the season doesn't start in the middle of December?
