I couldn't find a general thread for the league cup anywhere so here we are. Apologies if there is one somewhere.
Anyway, I was looking at the quarter final teams yesterday and realised we've got a very very good chance of winning this.
There's nobody left we cant/haven't beaten.
I really think we'll do it.
Thoughts.

Stoke City v Tottenham

Brentford v Newcastle United

Arsenal v Manchester City

Everton v Manchester United

We've got one of the best squads in the country and a world-class manager so yeah we can obviously win it.

Still need to win 3 football matches so let's not fall in the trap of thinking that it is very very likely or that we are close to winning silverware, we've got a decent chance, that's it for now.

City are still a major threat here, lets not write them off just yet. But yes I agree we have a very good chance of silverware. If the Gooners turn City over we'll win it imo.

Kiss of death :ROFLMAO:

Honestly I think Jose will be desperate to win this. He's won it 4 times in the past so he obviously takes it serious. Also, I see it as a great opportunity to build belief for the rest of the season.

I'd be in heaven if I get to see our lads ascend the Wembley steps and lift a trophy. It's been too long.

Think we can all see how this is gonna play out. Get to the final against the scum. And lose. Cue another year of then lording it over us. Even thought they finish 17 68 points behind us. It’s written.

god I’m negative.

Well, there's 3 teams there who could still beat us.

Let's hope for a lucky win against the first of them, and avoid Brentford or Newcastle.

I don't forget myself looking past Norwich in the FA Cup last year and getting burnt so I will stay quiet and humble. But in fairness we had so many injuries, no fit strikers apart from Troy and Jose decided to play Vorm unnecessarily. We have lots of great options this time around so I expect a strong team next week to get the job done. Hart is a better keeper than Vorm though so I would be confident if Jose selected him for this one.

This is one reason why I like this tournament, because it can feel like before you know it you can be in the semis. If we get past Stoke and especially if we also get the luck of the draw in pulling out the winner of Newcastle/Brentford then you'd be hopeful of reaching the final. Both City and United can be dangerous in just a one off game though.

I have no idea what Stoke are even like nowadays.
Obv we’ll be favourites going into the QF, so I can’t see what could possibly go wrong...

Must admit it'd be bittersweet to finally win a trophy if there's nobody there to see it - wouldn't quite feel real

The year ending in 1 is just a coincidence. Is bloody bizarre though. I think if we win something this year, which I think we will, we'll do something next year as well. Its getting that confidence and belief into the squad. The belief that we're winners not nearly men. That was Pochs biggest downfall imo. That and publicly saying winning domestic cups stuff doesnt matter. Going off on a tangent here but can you imagine Jose coming out and saying the stuff Poch said? Or even behind closed doors? Not bloody likely.

I would like to see Harvey White given a chance tomorrow. The lad seems to be in great form, heavily involved in three of our 4 goals in our under 23 win at Liverpool. Yes he's only 19 but Liverpool have shown how academy kids can step up. With Lo Celso missing for a while White may have the opportunity to show his worth.
