A bit unfair i think on Spurs if we take Levy at his word wrt the stadium. Will we spend 300m in 2 windows? No likely not. But with the new stadium being full every week, the ancilliary events, & the fact that we have 30 years to pay back the loans, it presents a lot of wiggle room to provide for the club on the pitch & with the hundreds of billions Newcastle is now flush with to improve their dilapidated infrastructure & squad, this is our last & best chance to finally figure this mess out again, get a trophy & get something going to build upon. Conte is here for the now. But depending on how things go, Paratici could be here for longer than the initial 3 years he got.
Very good post mate.

And I completely agree, I hope Paratici is here for the long haul because first it shows we are doing great and secondly Levy is well away from football matters and may start to relax about control over footballing decisions.

Got to go full Italian now. Send Hitchen down to Tottenham high road and ask every shop for protection money or he’ll break their legs

Can anybody enlighten me, is there any room for wingers in a Conte team?

I’m thinking Gil, Lucas, Bergwijn, maybe even Son, where do they all fit in from here? Gil might be best in the middle anyway, Sonny can play off Kane.

Fear it might be time up for Lucas and for Bergwijn.
Why the fear?

I love many of our squad due to the emotional attachment, however departed from that I fail to find a player I could justify keeping, excluding Son and maybe PEH.

The others have failed to impress under the last 3 managers, and how long can we hang onto the hope of potential of players such as Gio, Tangiy, Bergjy etc.
We go through the cycle every season of saying they just need a run of games or a new manager, yet the outcome is always the same.
we can say these players stopped playing for the managers, but from the end of poch era to now, even when we were winning, the games we actually played well and looked convinci were few and far between.

Tangiy has gone from a player that shaking off and rolling 4 players at once to losing the ball easily, and being unable to play simple balls.
Gio is turning into a lesser version of Coco, and I don’t know what it is with Bergjy. Looks a promising player but will he ever kick on to be a top player.

We just need to accept that these players aren’t good enough and with the current squad we are a 6-10th place side, not top 4.

If we don’t pull Conte off we need Timmy in to clear the deadwood! Only man to have the balls to do it!

This is a serious move if it comes off. Just as things were starting to look really bleak.

The likes of Rodgers and Potter didn't fancy it but we've somehow (almost) landed Antonio freaking Conte, a genuinely elite manager.

Very exciting times and should be the rocket up the arse this team and club badly needs. You've got to think this means a significant transfer budget for the next 2 windows too.

From apathy to excitement in a few days.

18 months is fine. He’s not a long term manager. If he lasts more than two years before he walks I’ll be shocked, but he’ll whip us into shape and transform the squad for whoever comes next.
Who knows….he may get sucked in and ends up loving the club and his here for years….

Looking forward to see Reguilon being a proper Wing Back and Romero in the middle of a back three storming out at every chance. Interesting indeed where Lucas, Bergwijn, Tanganga or Rodon end up now.

If he can get fit, Sessegnon might thrive in this too as well as Reguilon. Good problem to have for this season & extremely helpful for next if Reguilon goes back to Madrid. Bergwijn & Lucas might be options for wing back. Or they’ll be used to change the game as a sub(if Conte sticks with the 352 which I think we are probably more suited for than any other formation at this point - only a striker option short). Tanganga, IMO, would be a HELL of an RCB in this formation. Aggressive, athletic & a good defender. Hope he gets an opportunity.

I see a 352 like this at least until January(Skipp for Gio in the XI slotting in next to Hojbjerg against better sides)
Lloris
Tanganga Romero Dier
Royal Hojbjerg Reguilon
Lo Celso Ndombele
Kane Son

In Conte’s usual systems his wingbacks attack very high up the pitch so I think Dier’s lack of mobility will prohibit him from playing regularly on the left or right of the back 3.

3 players who will benefit the most are Romero, Reguilon, and Ndombele. Romero is already amazing and with less hesitation in pressing with the security of a back 3, he’ll be even better. Honestly, he is the perfect Conte CB, because he is also great in a lower block and marking box movement by opponents. Reguilon has the interplay and pass and move ability, with his athleticism and stamina to dominate the left flank as the wing backs are tasked with. Whether played in a pivot or a 3, Ndombele has always played in a midfield where the midfield is exposed with little protection (when he hasn’t played as a 10). He should have the freedom to play and focus on his on-ball ability. He’ll have the protection of a back 3/5, and two more conservative midfielders, as Conte attacks with 5: 2/3 front men, 2 wingbacks, and 0/1 midfielder (Ndombele). Think Pogba at Juve, where he was at his very best when given the freedom. Or he’s used as the deep playmaker (less likely, with Conte this position shoots up to need no. 1 IMO), and he can use his ability to provide variety and progression in the build up.
