Wednesday have sacked Monk. SSN implying it's because they are "1pt off the bottom". Doesn't give any slack for their contributing points deduction

Looking increasingly likely that Tuchel will be out of PSG soon after a number of bad results namely in the champions league but also rumours are that he’s fallen out with the Hierarchy. Would absolutely love for Poch to go there but can see him holding out for Utd unfortunately.
Wouldn't think Zidane's position is a very strong one at the moment either. Lost 4-1 away to Valencia and not to convincing in the Champions league either.

Weird decision unless Monk wanted out. They had a bad run losing to Luton, Rotherham and Wycombe in succession but have since beaten Bournemouth and drawn with Millwall and they had a bright start before that poor run.

Wednesday seem to be run by another of those Championship owners who always think the grass is greener on the other side even though the chances of things going tits up is always so high.

I heard an expression calling Barca's squad a "talent doughnut" in the sense that they have promising youngsters and old over 30s but nobody good who are in their peak years. The same pretty much applies to Real, albeit they do have Varane and Casemiro.

Zidane still has a lot of clout with Perez, even taking away the CLs in his first stint he saved them in a very tricky situation when Lopetegui was sacked and won the league just three months ago. But carry on like this and he might not last till Christmas, they're looking really bad right now.

Nigel Pearson won't be in a job any time soon, still feeling the effects of COVID eight months after he first came down with it. His interview on David Ornstein's pod on the Athletic was really interesting and it sounds from him like he was genuinely fearing for his life at one point.

Pulis has taken over at Wednesday.

Cocu's been sacked at Derby. Anyone else see old Potato head taking over?

Did Cocu have the coaching qualifications? He always came across as a nice guy of a little out of his depth.

Apparently Sol Campbell was after the Wednesday job. He's really more a See You Next Tuesday man though.

I assume so - he managed PSV for 5 years
So here is what happened at Derby

When Frank left, after the start of July because Chelsea were taking the piss. Heres who left in June
Harry Wilson (started playoff final)
Tomori (started playoff final)
Mount (started playoff final)
Johnson (started playoff final)
Bryson (started 32 games)
Nugent (started 31 games)

Then these guys left after he joined
Thorne
Carson (started 30 games)

Other Notable players
Olsson
Bent
Pearce - spent season at loan at Millwall after Tomori took his place
Blackman

So the guy had lost half of the squad frank had within 4 weeks of joining, who did he get to sign, well apparently he didn't have much input but this was it:
Shinnie - Free
Beilik - £8m apparently
Hector-Ingram - Free
Dowell - loan
Clarke - loan
Hamer - loan
Paterson - loan

Then 4 weeks later, Lawerence and Bennett got drunk drove home during a team bonding exercise and broke Keogh's knee's in a crash.

So lost another 3 players that started the final, taking the total number lost to 7 players who started that final and 10 starters from that season.

So had no preseason, lost half the team, lost 3 players in disgrace, Then in Christmas the results started to turn around and started to go on a good run.

Rooney joined under a deal that pissed off the league and there was the threat of relegation as the league wanted to and still wants currently to deduct points from the club.

Derby go up to 7th and are the in form team before 4 losses near the end of the season, the bad form coincides with Wisdom getting stabbed in the head and arse. He wasn't a starter but a key piece, especially as derby struggling for full backs

Derby struggled with money as owner said he had no money the previous summer and now with coronavirus and court case looming shit is hard.

Derby lose:
Carson (arguably their best keeper amongst this shit show)
Huddlestone (started playoff final)
Anya (didn't play but expensive contract)
Malone (backup leftback)
Bogle (started playoff final) also one of derby's best players
Lowe (first choice leftback) as above
Martin (starter by end of last season)
Marriott (started 32 games and played in playoff final, also started played 4 games of season)

Who did they sign, well 12 players on a free or thereabouts(less than a mill), here are notable names:
They signed 3 goalkeepers
Jordan Ibe(remember him)
Colin Kazim-Richards(anyone remember him)

Then they wonder why they are at the bottom of the championship

Also Btw Rooney, started poorly and then add insult to injury missed 5 games because he had to self isolate after meeting a businessman when he was in a local lockdown(derby isn't but Cheshire is) who had fucking coronavirus

Im pissed at Derby fans and the media, as I don't know how someone is supposed to do a good job with all that going on

I said last season, that he did a better job than Frank at Derby and I stand by that getting to 10th with no blockbuster loans is a great achievement, yea we had Rooney but we sure as well didn't have anyone else

A couple of things I totally forgot

Derby didn't pay the players in January "on time"

Derby also started to negotiate with the players about wage reductions in April.

Also apparently players weren't happy with Cocu, which suggests players have way too much power

I see you mentioned Keogh. Also worth mentioning that they fired his sorry arse after that drunk driving incident. As captain of Derby he became the martyr.

the signing of Rooney always seemed to me as a PR signing and nothing else. Some rumours that he was next in line for the Derby job....
