I thought Fergie changed assistants more because they left to be managers in their own right?

Brian Kidd was his assistant for donkeys years before he went off to manage (can’t remember where off top of my head but don’t think he was that successful).

Steeeeeth Mcclaren was next and he was really successful as assistant manager, but then went off to manage Middlesbrough where he was kinda bang average. We won’t talk about England.

Then Carlos Quirez (sp 1 too lazy to check) who went off to manage Real Madrid rather unsuccessfully and I believe went came back for another stint as assistant manager?

Then good old reliable Mike Phelan who I believe has now come back as messiah Ole’s number 2?

I know people want to see the best in him, and want to blame everything but him as the reason for our on field problems.

All I'll say is remember mourinho second stint at Chelsea. The players went from being willing to take a bullet for him, to banging the chairman's door down to get him out. Pochs persona switch in the media is basically how he is all the time now. Moody, miserable and confusing.

And before anyone shoots this down as spin, it's the same story from 2 separate agents with different interests at the club.

agents have agendas

Just this week we've seen Kane and Davies note that the manager is right and the players have let him down.
Hugo has reiterated his connection to Poch
Ndombele joined because of Poch as did GLC
Foyth, Gazza, Lamela are major Poch loyalists
We have itk from @Hercules talking about how Poch has supported Rose with his reitegration
Sissoko just signed a new deal and v positive comments

Who said it...

One of the biggest reasons Ferguson was able to keep going for so long was he'd bring in new faces to the backroom staff to keep him on his toes but also give the players someone new to impress and something different to think about. New faces, new voices, new ideas. Or even the same ideas but conveyed differently.

That doesn't mean drastically overhauling because he'd still have his closest confidantes with him unless they chose to move (one of them became Real Madrid manager, got the sack and was immediately offered his job back at Utd). And in Poch's case it really is a team effort between himself, Jesus Perez, Tony Jimenez and Miguel D'Agostino. I don't want that group to change but it would be wise to add someone new to the group.

yes but not just the assistants. other members of the staff who would run the sessions while he watched on as an observer.

granted ferguson was getting on in age and naturally you become less hands on but i don't think he was ever much of a "coach". he'd give his instructions and demands to the staff who conveyed it to the players.

every manager basically has a set of two or three close guys they take everywhere they go in their career but it's useful to refresh it too.

Allegri would 100% take us to the next level IMO
He's a classy manager but I have serious doubts him and Levy would work. It'd have to be a coach who is happy to work with a wide variety of players, develop academy players to fill the inevitable gaping holes in the squad, and in general be flexible to the players at their disposal.

A big name who would demand a war chest, or a coach with a strict philosophy who demands very specific targets just wouldn't work with Levy.

Why is every other post about ol' whisky nose?
They are currently going through former United managers, comparing methods and stuff. Can’t wait until they get to Tommy Docherty, although I can’t see Poch getting his P45 because he’s been getting stuck across the physio’s wife.

He might want to get across that former Chelsea physio Eva what ever her name is and whack his old Cory out on her Harris.

So many Spursy fans offering Spursy opinions, scrambling around in the dark to justify the sack for an excellent manager who has just brought in three players for 55M, 55M and 25M. We haven't kept up the ferocious rate of points accumulation of *his* earlier years, during a season we reached the CL final. Sack him...........Or at least sack Jesus Perez ????
