Ultimately he gets to move on to a shiny new project and we're lumbered with unhappy players/squad with no easy fix
Why the change of avatar? Where's Che gone ?Big Sam time!
Great post!!Because in a constant press, which Poch's press is or was it demands a level of fitness that can't be trained. You can not train a players level of fitness past a certain threshold - it's called natural fitness. The intensity demanded by such a high press needs high levels of concentration as well and that is something else that one player has over the other to a lesser or more extent.
It's worth noting that the press sort of stopped or regressed once injuries took their toll on the squad and you have to start using players that otherwise would not have the required attributes to play such a demanding style of football. Another thing worth noting about such a high counter-press is the defensive line - Toby and Jan have not been blessed with huge amounts of pace, they have pace, but not enough in such high and dangerous areas of the pitch. Playing with a clever offside trap mitigates pace to some extent, but you need a clever back four to make it work and Toby and Jan are very good at this tbf.
Poch has pretty much abandoned his style in all honesty and credit where it's due here - he sees why he can't play it, but unless you have something to fall back to, then you get found out and pretty quickly as well. What we are doing now is still playing very narrow but without a counter-press or really any press that is effective. Trying to work the ball and keep possession is all well and good, but teams find that we are a lot easier to set up against and nullify. Full backs crossing from deep becomes like a training ground exercise for opposition defenders. Our front three invariably are playing way too close together and of course the more Poch tinkers with the formation and round holes and square pegs, the further away from his system he becomes. He has essentially become lost, due to his inability to fully understand how to make the most of his system that benefits the players he has. The spotlight is firmly on him and right now his whole career could be defined on what he does next (assuming he is given the chance).
After last night, I think my attitude is best summed up by the iconic Robin Friday, and the Super Furry Animals song he inspired...Why the change of avatar? Where's Che gone ?
Hardly any class these days and certainly no shameExactly this. The lack of respect being shown, by some, is fucking embarrassing.
Poch's time might well be up but to piss all over what he's created at the Club is just classless, and plain wrong.
I guess the more dramatic they are the more chance he goes is there way of thinking.

Very good post Rob and agree 100% - still hope that Levy keeps faith with Poch and if so we will turn it aroundWe demand "loyalty" when we're doing well and expect him to tell the best club in the world he's not interested in them but as soon as there's a rough patch he's not good enough and should be sacked.
Anyone calling for him to go is a complete hypocrite if they ever talk about player/manager loyalty again.
Yeah, things are bad. Yeah, Poch is getting it wrong. The players have contributed to the problems. Levy's contributed to the problems. But it feels you've all forgotten the 20+ years of a new manager every season and finishing 10th. As the song says, Poch DOES have that magic about him to bring the best out of a group of players and I'm confident it just needs time to refresh the team, integrate the new signings and settle the team again.
Replace Moura with Dele and you got it I reckon, although Moura looked like he was lacking confidence last night.
I came to Spurs reading a book, "The Glory Game" and for years, sitting on this side of the pond, it was all snippets but what little that was there, it was devoured. I grew to believe that Spurs were special and Spurs fans were somehow different. We held ourselves to a higher standard not only on the pitch but how we acted. We had to win but we would only insist on winning beautifully because even in our failures, there was an echo of glory. If a player wore the badge and gave his all, he should always be cheered or encouraged because he was one of ours. He was one of us. Even when he went to another club because he couldn't hack it here. If he embarrassed the club not through poor play but through sportsmanship or disrespect, he should be shunned.
That loyalty extended to the other Spurs fans. The argument Poch In or Poch Out isn't as clear cut as many of the posts seem to think. there are consequences to either direction and there is risk of it turning out far different than many think.
So when i read this thread and see some of the garbage going back and forth and the absolute conviction being expressed, i have to wonder if Spurs fans really are so different. There are some extraordinarily bright people who post on this website many of whom disagree with me. In many cases, by their powers of persuasion, they have caused me to change my position. I'm in the PochIn camp at the moment but appreciate the well reasoned PochOut as carefully as much as the PochIn ones.
I apologize in advance for this whinging but SC is sounding more and more like AFTV and having cringed at how bad their fans were, it pains me to see what this has become. I guess in the end, there probably should be a thread on "What's it Mean to be a Spurs fan" but i guess all i'm hoping is that as a fanbase, we stay true to our roots. We're clearly not playing to our roots, but perhaps its time for the fan base to pull the club forward. Perhaps this link would be helpful. it's quote by Billy N and quotes about him. This is what we need to stay true to in my humble opinion whether that means PochIn or PochOut.

Who do you think I am? Mark Clattenburg?Urgggh, that's terrible...couldn't you have picked an Ed Sheeran song?
Rather than take time off because of the negativity as you call it, make your voice heard.Very good post Rob and agree 100% - still hope that Levy keeps faith with Poch and if so we will turn it around
Also want to take a moment to thank you for opening SC for us
Unfortunately I need to take a break from the site for a bit - I feel like your type of post is being pushed out by a wave of negativity where people almost want and are hoping for things to go wrong so it can affirm their view about Poch - and when it is itk's it tends to drive the discussion downward rapidly.....it's too much and instead of getting angry (and yelling online) its best to take some time off.

Exactly this, forum is for voicing opinions. Many fans even straight away last night out together very respectable reasoning for their views. I’ve not seen many belittle or disrespect poch’s previous brilliant achievements with us, however myself and many others believe for a number of reasons as stated that it is now best if we part ways with him.Rather than take time off because of the negativity as you call it, make your voice heard.
It's a discussion forum, where we discuss Spurs, good or bad, and last night was bad, very bad. People are entitled to a view different to yours, and so far I have only seen one poster say they would rather lose so Poch gets the sack.
It is going to be negative after last night, even some ardent Poch supporters are worrying after last night.
I think wanyama springs to mind their, although we did not get him out the door just yet.As far as loyalty goes Poch has been incredibly ruthless regarding moving players out when he doesn't want them because it's in the best interest of the club, no matter how loyal they've been. The same has to applied to him if it's for the greater good. Considering how the players are talking and performing I don't see how he can turn this around now. They've lost faith and and the discontent is spreading.

I think it was you or ValYid who posted something similar several weeks back. I said then what i'll say now: if this is true (not doubting the information, but pinch of salt etc) then he absolutely must get sacked immediately.
If he's lost the dressing room then he would have to do something that virtually no manager at a top club has ever done and win it back. It's never happened. It doesn't happen.
There's no point in waiting for a couple of more defeats to confirm what many of us already know to be true - it's a waste of time and we'd be throwing away points needlessly.
No time for sentiment. Get rid and move on.
