It's actually insane that he's still in a job. Genuinely mad. How he hasnt fired himself is truly extraordinary.
Isn't that pretty much every transfer, unless the selling club force the player to move (which I am glad we aren't doing)?I’ve never been particularly strong on the hatred towards Levy, I’ve even felt sorry for him at times.
However, selling the greatest player our club has ever, and will arguably ever produce, on the eve of a new season and leaving it to the player himself to decide on the move, is complete and utter cowardice.
We have a new manager who already has a hard enough job. Levy is trying his level best to make sure he fails. I know he won’t, but I wouldn’t blame Ange in the slightest if he walks. I can’t imagine how insufferable it must be to work for that tosser.
The timing is more about the season being upon us rather than how long we’ve got to replace himIsn't that pretty much every transfer, unless the selling club force the player to move (which I am glad we aren't doing)?
Personally, I'm not bothered by the timing, we still have nearly 3 weeks of the window left. Proper gutted he is leaving though, but we all knew it was going to happen sometime in the next 12 months.
I just hope we spend the money wisely and quickly.
On a positive note, I really think we won't miss him as much as we think we Ange's system. Brighton out scored us last year with Welbeck and Ferguson as their 2 striker options.
I get that, but I personally don't think it matters. We have known there was a chance it would happen and I'm sure Ange has prepared for it. I'm more worried about our defence in those first couple of games than our attack. The timing is more about the season being upon us rather than how long we’ve got to replace him
Liverpool fans wants FSG outOur fans are so passive though
There are still a lotSurely he can’t have any supporters left now?
It seems he unbelievably has.Surely he can’t have any supporters left now?
Mate had to break it to you but nothing will change.Surely he can’t have any supporters left now?
The likelihood of success under Levy isn’t low, it’s zero. Sign 3 players, sign 10 players, we have signed shit loads of players we go nowhere and cycle just goes round and round. Good luck to the new manager he will need it.Mate had to break it to you but nothing will change.
Our fans will turn up, sit on their hands, pay the extortionate fees. continue to have hope but know the likelihood of success is low and the cycle will continue.
The situation was way way worse and more toxic last season and during Nuno/Jose yet aside from a few songs here and there and the odd protest with about literally 5 people, nothing changes.
FWIW I hate that it’s come to this with Kane and fully blame Levy and his bad decisions for that but lately we’ve made some good signings, we’ve hired an exciting manager who fits the club really well and we are starting a new exciting chapter so I think most fans will focus on that.
If we’d let Kane go for free to a PL rival or we let him go having not made any signings this summer whilst still having conte or Jose in charge and no plan or direction I think then our finally might just finally have snapped in big numbers but there are some positives right now so sorry but I don’t see the crowd turning and tbh I hope they don’t, I hope they get behind Ange and the team.
If we don’t sign anymore players there will be a toxic atmosphere but I hope we will sign a good 3 more of decent quality (Operation Kane) and if so I think we will be just fine.
I share your view that with DL we are only aiming for top 4 and nothing else. However I have the opposite sentiment to you. I aim lower and feel content easier. It’s subjective I suppose, and we’ll all have our own ideas about it. For me, it’s not prioritising the league over domestic cups so as to qualify for the Champions League with no intention of trying to win it - by which I mean investing in a team capable of challenging for that honour, or the premier league title. I appreciate we won the league cup under ENIC in 2008, and I did enjoy my day out at Wembley (less so for all the FA Cup semi-finals since ‘91) but I don’t really count that either, as it’s very much an outlier than an indicator.
I guess it boils down to a feeling that trying to win things is a secondary consideration at best - and that’s counter to my relationship with sport. You can never guarantee anything with any sport, and that’s what’s so great about it - but you can at least try.
Our financials are very healthy, we could have stretched them a bit to build a team around a generational talent. We might still have come to this point, and we might not have won anything on the way, but we’d still have a better team.
As it is, I think our cautious prudence will prove costly - I don’t believe our board understands this, and never will.
