I think it was to late to keep Kane the damage had been done, we brought to many rubbish players and didn’t improve from 2018 ish, to many of the wrong types of manages who went against our ethos.

Jol, rednapp, porch even conte needed backing and better recruitment

Every year same old crap, we pretend to sign players string it out for a zero net spend.

Funny when relegation loomed there was suddenly money
Because Levy is reactionary, when he/the club/profits are at stake it’s all action. When it’s going well no need to spend improve.

OK, due to popular demand (well, one PM asking if I still had it :playful: ) i'll post it again....

Back when ENIC first bought Rangers and Levy didn't know better and was happy to open his gob...........

You left out the second paragraph where he goes on to say how much of a huge go-karting fan he is and how Beyonce is one of his idols :p

2 year extension, huge wages/bonuses, £50m release clause next year to any club in CL.

That was easy. Next?

Do we know the details of what was offered to Harry by THFC? If the above had been offered, do you genuinely think Harry would have taken it? From what it seems, Harry was happy to see out his contract, and I'm not sure if there is any evidence to say he would consider an extension. Even if he was prepared to consider waiting to see if Ange's project is worth buying into after a couple of months of the season starting, it would have been a massive risk for Spurs and would have created a media circus along the way.

Unless you know something I don't, the issues go back to Poch's days having not invested in the squad. If Poch had Bissoma instead of Sissoko and maybe Sarr or Lolo instead of Winks, we would have had a better crack at winning the Champions League final - the rest of that team could beat most teams on their day.

Nope, speculating on the details but know that Kane was receptive to it but Levy wanted him out the door.

We're in limbo until they leave. Good not great but not terrible either and with no genuine desire to compete even at our own limits.

Crossing their fingers we manage to bottle lightening again and ride the wave for at long as it lasts without trying to keep it going or improve further.

Could be worse but football fandom is hardly built on a foundation of could be worse, especially as the bygone era of local club, local community relationship has evaporated as well.

If that’s true Rob, and I’m not for one minute suggesting it isn’t, then that in itself is a decision worthy of the sack, let alone all the other sackable decisions he’s been part of…absolutely shocking from the man at the top….

With Levy you just know he isn't signing both Tapsoba and VdV. With Liverpool and Arsenal you know they would get both (unless Chelsea did Willian/Mudryk/Caicedo on them) and more. Just do the minimum to please the fans and hover around top 4 or top 5. With clubs being backed by states it's all going to shit anyway, this sport probably isn't worth it for him, increase the value and sell for few billions and that's it.

I never really understand why this quote is used as a stick to beat Levy with. The majority of premiership owners chose to buy their clubs for the same reasons as Levy, to make money. It would likely be the same with any new owner.

Also, that was almost 30 years ago now. After working at the club for so long i would be surprised if he hasn't developed any emotional connection with it. He'll always be primarily business/finance focused, but most owners are nowadays.

Hasn't Kane been offered numerous extensions and refused to sign them? If Kane was receptive then why didn't he signed an extension?

His absolute refusal to accept that squads constantly need updating regardless of reputations or perceived quality. The fact he thought he knew better than everyone else around him including 3 top class managers.
I know the numbers are dwindling but it beggars belief - well, at least mine - that there are still Levy apologists on this forum.
