so this is it, right? we actually spent the kane money before he went and now we’re at 0 net which is where we want to be. fucked over by levy yet again
I wouldn't be surprised either way but we should after selling our talisman be buying a couple of players, if selling our Star Man is the last bit of major business the club does then the toxicity come the end of the window will be back and i think that is regardless of results.

Big couple of weeks i think.

Who knows with your first sentence, but I suspect you're spot on with your second given his past history!

2 weeks of a transfer window left where the manager wants a clear out of the squad (hasnt happened), his players and good replacements brought in (hasnt completely happened) and has sold out best player. Not looking good for him (again)

I get that we ALL want players out, but unless someone wants to buy them, you can't sell them. And who wants to buy a load of players who's fanbase have been consistently calling shite for 2+ seasons?

Buy players based on potential value, and if it looks good on spreadsheets, the team suffers. The knock on effect is they can’t be moved on which impacts the spending budget for future years and you have to take a loss.
We know good ol Dan Coys loves a profit and finds it difficult to take a loss, i cant see the next two weeks being any different.
Buy one good player for a top amount that will improve your first 11, instead of 3 average based on potential profit.
We couldn’t shift any of these the last 2 years, I’m not sure he will bring himself to take a loss then next two weeks.

Cue the “ we tried to buy but the market has been skewed and we need to look to the future to sustain a healthy business” “out goings have been difficult due to not receiving fair value for our internationals, Ange will reintegrate and exciting times ahead”

Hope I’m wrong.

obviously i don't know the figures nor what happens behind the scenes.

but we know the stadium is a net benefit already - not a hindrance on player spend. We know the club have received 100m for kane.

So how in hell are we not willing to invest in players at the level the liverpools do. I simply don't get it - why are we operating like a relegation team

that’s part of what he’s paid for

his job isn’t only about fancy stuff like selling high quality, high profile players for good money (which is a win win situation for anyone - either you earn a lot, or keep a top talent)

shifting deadwood is smth each and every club is facing. its just doing the things right, not chilling on a vacation

I am more than happy with us following a data-driven, high ceiling approach to our transfer business. We are not Chelsea (thankfully) and we should stop trying to pretend we are. Big signings don't suit the structure of the club.

But you have to make your mind up. Gift Orban for example is a snip at £30m and worth the risk as he has the ceiling to turn into something special.

You say that about Chelsea but they're snapping up loads of young talent.

Even their big signings have been young players that the data fans rave about.

They're just signing far too many for far too much but I think in their minds they're doing a Brighton with a massive budget.

Indeed. Game changer my arse, not from a footballing perspective anyway.

I’ve said it before, but serious questions need to be asked as to where the money is going if indeed we have already spent the Kane money as Ornstein has suggested. 3rd most profitable sports team on planet earth last year, yet selling our best player to finance transfers while our theoretical rivals are spending money like it’s going out of fashion

Hence the reason why DL pretty much drove H to the airport himself.
No way he was keeping H for another season knowing he’d already spanked any transfer fee he might get.
Gotta balance them books….

My guess is, he's going to leak some bullshit transfer talk on Saturday morning to lift the pressure off of him on Saturday evening

Being profitable doesn't equate to being cash rich.

Transfer talk bullshit? I don’t believe a single word that comes out of his mouth or the clubs press office about anything these days.
