This analysis is blighted by your hatred of the man. He has moved the club forward massively in many aspects since his chairmanship began. Objectively. There are obviously arguments to be had about whether he can take us any further now or if we would’ve won more trophies with a different chairman (doubtful unless we were funded by a nation state or a free spending billionaire) but to say he’s an idiot with a track record of disastrous business decisions is at best hyperbole and at worst just plain nonsense.
I have always been “Levy out!” Since the times we went without buying players to improve the squad and still feel the same.

IF!!!!!!!!!! He now leaves the player targets and selling are left to the new setup. Just discuss and agree the monies available for each window then step out of it.
He’s ended up with a great stadium and training ground for the football club to his credit but leave the football players side of it to people who know what they’re doing.

And this is why levy is still a wanker and always will be. We’ve left ourselves criminally short of cover at CB and now it’s going to cost us

Unbelievable almost impossible to see one or both of our only decent centre backs picking up injuries and suspensions. No one can be blamed for this.

The point being that it was incredibly risky not buying a second centre back in the summer and even more so by selling Sanchez, the only CB Ange was giving time to.

Yeah, same point I’m making, hoped the sarcasm wouldn’t be lost on anyone.

"The final cost is much greater than what had been initially estimated for the London heavyweights. At the outset, it was estimated that the construction of the new stadium would incur costs of around £400 million, but in 2017 it emerged that it would actually be nearly double that - around £750m"
But the outset of the project - which was probably around 10 years prior to completion, and before any really plans were in place.

Nothing wrong with revising a budget to do something better because you can afford to, and it will deliver a better outcome.

They are only going to build a new stadium once every 50 years or so, so they need to make sure it is the best it can be.

An early estimate put Phase 2 of the development, that includes the construction of the stadium, at £305 million,[246] but in July 2018, it was reported that the construction of the stadium itself was projected to cost £350–£400 million. The club said that the final cost would be less than £1 billion,[250] and just before the stadium opened in April 2019, the club chairman Daniel Levy said that the cost is of the order of £1 billion.[6] In November 2020, Levy indicated that the stadium build had cost £1.2 billion.[251]

Its a great stadium no doubt. One of the best in the world. You generally get what you pay for. I still think the nfl tax on us was a mistake. We're a football club not an nfl club. 3 games a year where we get to keep the concessions isn't value for money for me. We'd still get to show Taylor Swift etc without the ridiculous cost of being nfl ready. A dumb waste of our resources imo.

I don’t think Jose ended up costing us much as he joined Roma in the summer and thus gave up the majority of his pay-off. I also doubt Conte cost much either as his contract expired a couple of months after he was let go.

Would be interesting to see the actual number on these two, but I think there’s a lot of hyperbole about them being expensive mistakes.
Maybe the act of sacking them wasn't that expensive but employing them both and their staff will have cost a bomb in wages while they were with us. Conte was certainly the highest paid manager in the league, not sure about Mourinho.

As much as I hated the football Conte's 4th place with a very ropey starting eleven more than repaid his wages with CL money/ Prem prize money etc. As well as beating Arsenal to it which was priceless!

Back Ange now and give the dof and team a big budget to build the squad he needs or get out. Simple as. He's beyond his last chance but not much we can do about that. This is the best connection the fans will ever have to the club. We just need the squad to match.

Last night was a bit of a cataclysm of events but it does highlight that Levy didn't invest enough in the Summer.

Time will tell whether Ange can work miracles with his limited squad in the next few weeks, but he shouldn't have to really.

Ange is doing great. It shouldn't hide that Levy has still left us very light on the footballing side.

While this is true, it also has to be said that Ange signed off on selling Big Dave.
Maybe he saw something in the youngsters but I don't think anyone could have foreseen the defensive calamity of yesterday.
Losing one, we could have coped with, losing both was just terrible luck.

I'm not sure that Levy is really to blame for that.

I don't think Sanchez staying would have greatly strengthened our position to be honest. If Ange thought he was good enough then he'd have kept him.

But having only two top quality centre backs isn't really sufficient and I think it's clear Ange did want at least one more.

Yeah, I think we needed that lad from Bournemouth (?), who can cover both Lb and Lcb but left it too late.
We're definitely light in that area but I'm not sure how much blame we can pin on Levy for that.
Now, I'm all for kicking the man but it was a pretty successful window overall and none of us expected to solve all of our issues in one window.

A lot will depend on January, if we address the obvious issues and do it quickly, he'll get a bit more leeway.
If we faff about until late in the window, the discontent will quickly grow again.

He's bought himself some time but he's not out of the woods yet, for me at least.

Flipside of that is I'd always rather Sanchez was playing than Dier.
