Times are hard for everyone at the moment because of the global pandemic and unfortunately lately our beloved Spurs under Jose are not providing us with much joy as we’d like and there is understandably a lot of negativity and doom and gloom amongst the fanbase, so let’s start a thread to focus on all the positives of supporting our great club! :)

This can be : why you love supporting Spurs, great memories, famous wins, players or managers who have brought a smile to your face, funny moments, anything positive or good is welcome:

I’ll start with a few:
  • I love supporting Spurs because my dad, sister and other close friends and family do and sharing the good times with them has been brilliant :)
  • Our history is beautiful in that we are successful enough to be respected but we are by no means a powerhouse who win title after title and the ups and downs of the ride are what being a fan is all about. Im proud of the club being the first non league team to win the FA cup and the first team to win the double, I love that we were known as this push and run team in the 60’s and we have quotes from Bill Nic, Blanchflower & co which stand the test of time for what should be the clubs DNA and mantra
  • I was lucky enough to go to the CL final with my old man and be at the final game at WHL and those memories and trip will stay with me forever
  • I loved the first time I saw us beat Chelsea at WHL after 16 years of losing to that mob when that Lennon goal went in, the roar in WHL was like nothing id ever heard, so much relief and joy and the celebrations in the pubs after were epic http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6119336.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6094134.stm
  • I love that Spurs fans are unique and when you meet others at games or out and about we all share in the rollercoaster of emotions that is being a Tottenham fan
  • I loved it when Marin Jol came in and brought a smile to our faces with his legendary Dutch accent, the football he got us playing and his love for the club and fans (“I love Marin jollllll Marin jolll loves me). I loved the journey that Harry Redknapp took us on into the Champions League and the football he got us playing at times was majestic and then a few years later under Poch we had 4 amazing years where I’ve never felt so happy and connected to the club, manager and group of players
  • The amazing players we’ve had over the years, I remember being so so excited when we signed Defoe and Keane and the goals they scored, I loved our English core when we had Robinson, Dawson, Carrick, Jenas, Lennon etc, I loved watching Ginola and Sheringham, Berbatov was majestic, Eriksen’s creativity and technique was breathtaking, Bale & Lennon‘s pace was exhilarating, Parker and his 360 turns, Modric was class, Walker & Rose best full backs in the prem, Toby,Jan and Dembele our Belgian trio, Harry Kane being incredible and scoring in so many London Derbies and then my favourite ever Spurs player Van Der Vaart, his class, touch, vision, technique and most of all his passion for Spurs especially when he scored against the Gooners
Finally huge thanks to the guys that run the best fans forum in the league by a mile and to you legends (most of you ;) ) it’s great fun ranting and raving and sharing opinions with you all.

So stay positive guys & gals, there are always ups and downs with this incredible magical football club but I’d not change it for the world.
COYS!

So over to you guys, anything positive about your time supporting Spurs go...

And this vid of Rafa Van Der Vaart sums up the great feelings and emotions of being a Spurs fan, enjoying those moments of class and those big wins and performances when they do come along. Also can’t smile without you and Final season at WHL (listening to Poch‘s words tear to my eye), what a club!

I love that they mirror myself.

Lots of delusion, moments of happiness without success, glimmers of hope for a brighter future with no basis, talking about taking time to make something but then quitting at the first time of trouble.

It's like looking in a broken mirror.

Spurs remind me of my dad and all the happy memories we had going to games and supporting the team.

No matter how bad things get, it will always be a massive part of my life and it transcends just being a football team.

Fifty five years of my life since I first popped into WHL.
.
Can't give it up.
What was your first match mate? Mine was Spurs 3-4 Blackburn , Shearer destroyed us think it was about 1993/4. Result aside we drove up to the match listening to Spurs songs on the cassette with one of my dads mates and his son, it was all so exciting, it all felt so loud and racus but I loved it and seeing 7 goals in first match was brilliant.

You must have seen some great sides and players having been a fan for 55 years! Ardiles, Hoddle, Gazza etc?

My first memory as a football fan was the 1990 world cup. Seeing Gazza and Linekar light up the world cup was just fantastic viewing. Then the next season winning the Fa Cup was my first season as a Spurs fan.

My mum worked for Holsten so I got to watch a few games for free and my first game was a 3-0 win against Derby County with Gazza scoring a hat trick.

It would probably be fair to say that my time as a fan peaked too early.

But I've always had enjoyment from the club. Whether it was watching the Sheringham/Anderton combo, the wonderful skill of Ginola or watching Bale develop into one of the best in the world I always enjoyed us.

We have had awful periods of course. But we're triers and as a person I have to respect that.

We're not so terrible as to have got relegated or become an also-ran. We haven't bought our way to the top and lost our soul.

We're still trying to get to the top and right now with everything going wrong we still have the best striker in the world having probably his best ever season.

I love that we are dreamers, idealists, artists. That we have tradition and identity. That it is not all about winning with Spurs - it is about winning with style.

The people who just want silverware at all costs don't understand this club. We are better than that.

Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza, Ginola, Berbatov, Bale were wonderful players who embodied this club not just because they were good, but because of the way they played.

That is why I love this club.

When Jose first became our manager I actually had a glimmer,of hope that by getting a serial winner we would be getting trophies. My nephew, who is a fervent Man Utd fan, warned me that he would poison our team as he had with United. He was right.

1975 Spurs v Burnley, sat in the Paxton, only 25,000 in the ground, but the noise got me hooked and we won 2-1. When I started going on my own with my mates watching Hoddle etc there was no going back. The players we've had and the maverick style of football is Tottenham Hotspur.

Agree with the post but this is the positivity thread. So maybe turn it into, when he is gone the cloud can lift and we can rebuild and hopefully play good football again with an open stadium and lots of food and beer.

My first match.. My dad even tho he was a Liverpool fan took me to white Hart Lane for the first time.. It was 1975, I was 8.. Tottenham 2 Luton 0.. Martin chivers scored both.. I got to visit the Steve Perryman shop on the corner of the ground.. My childhood hero.. A great captain.. Martin Peters.. Alfie conn.. Cyril Knowles..my second childhood hero Pat jennings one of the greatest goalkeepers ever. Ralph Coates.. It was always a team of a handful of maestros.. Steve Archibald.. Klinnsman.. Dav-eed ginola.. My third childhood hero Glenn hoddle, so beautiful with a football. Ardilles. Defoes 5 against Wigan.. Gazza.. Mabbutt.. My wife got me captains table tickets to see Tottenham beat arsenal in the last season at White Hart Lane and after the game we got to meet Gary Mabbutt and Darren (sicknote) Anderton.. A special afternoon.. And i have always been proud to say I'm a spurs fan even in those bleak years of late 70s early 80s.0ssies wonderful... In the cup for totting-ham and chas an dave.. Going back to the Jol era, it was just fantastic as a fan. The club made so many strides in what was quite a short space of time. We got there organically with a likeable manager and team.

Add all the players people mention above like Klinsmann, Sheringham, Berbatov, King, Van der Vaart and our current hero. There has been a lot to enjoy and football to me is a break from the tedium of work and everyday life. I'm sure that there will be more to enjoy in the future.
