Matt Law, lol.
he may well be right, but it’s a literal guarantee that this article isn’t based on any knowledge, merely supposition based on circumstance with just the faintest whiff of agenda mixed in for good measure.
I think the point is that many clubs will be in poor financial situations.I don't know how anyone is surprised at that. When you factor in the current circumstances and the fact that this is Spurs we're talking about, would it really be any other way?

ENIC like to invest when there is a return. If this is a good time to get good deals from clubs previously in a position to ask for sky high prices then we could spend.
I find that a strange comment considering how much we spent on Ndombele and Sessegnon last summer plus the potential costs of Lo Celso and Fernandes.I get you, I just wouldn't hold my breath personally. I know it's not fully the case and it isn't so black and white and there are many variables to be had at this particular moment in time especially but sometimes it does just feel like we look for an excuse not to spend. Not that it isn't somewhat valid this time around but even without coronavirus I'm sure we would still hear the same lines that seem to be repeated every window as to why we haven't done the business we've needed to.

I certainly agree that we struggle at the top end. We have had a level of success with buying players with high potential, developing them and selling them if we get them to the top level.I said 'sometimes it feels' as well as saying I know it's not fully the case and I don't just mean to spend in general to clarify, I mean to spend on what we really need. Gedson for example, yes it's nice to have fresh blood in the team but would I have earmarked such a player as a necessity at this current point? Not personally. There were times in the Modric/VDV/Bale days where we felt we were just a few signings away from completing the puzzle and didn't. Times under Pochettino where we really could have propelled ourselves massively with just one or two 'special' signings and didn't, not to mention the year without spending at all, not having a backup to Kane for periods despite that repeatedly hitting us on the arse and even when we knew he was injured and selling Trippier to leave ourselves with only Aurier.
I don't mean to say it's all bad but to put it bluntly, I just don't trust us in the market.

I think ENIC like to be sensible with money, captain obvious I know, and their growth plan has been to increase our turnover to buy players within our financial framework rather than looking to be ambitious and go for that higher level player.
I think their plan was to go for those levels of player once we had a turnover to match the top clubs.
Personally I would liked to have seen more Naybet and Davids type of deals. High quality, experienced players on short term deals to help the quality younger players we have.
I remember Jol wanting Distin and an experienced centre mid and got given a very young Kaboul and KPB. What could have been.Yeah agree, especially with the end as I feel we've been a young talented side for years now and think we could really do with players of experience along with quality and a winners mentality amongst the group to fully bring it all together. I don't see many in this team who would demand respect, really pump the players up or grill them if needed, certainly not on the pitch anyway and the players who might in the dressing room, the more experienced ones like Toby, Jan or Hugo are the same voices a lot of the players have been hearing for years now. Like I've said numerous times I really think we need players who will upgrade our mentality as well as capabilities on the pitch.
That same window he also got Darren Bent who, whether we like him or not, was proven Orem it we league goals and had come off a very good season, and Gareth Bale.I remember Jol wanting Distin and an experienced centre mid and got given a very young Kaboul and KPB. What could have been.
If you think Darren Bent is the experienced head that Jol wanted from the likes of Distin then I think you'll stand alone in that thought. That same window he also got Darren Bent who, whether we like him or not, was proven Orem it we league goals and had come off a very good season, and Gareth Bale.
The source does not matter. Stop bitching about the source. The actual crux of the piece is what matters. And that is most likely based in fact.100%
He covers us for the Telegraph but every single article is against the club in some way. No point listening to him at all.

However, you can say that about every club. Simply put, the money is not available. 2 yr loans with options, free transfers and extremely cut price transfers will be the story of the next few summers until fans are back for at least a full season, could be more. The sport needs to survive. Clubs need to survive.
Think it depends on his quality. We want to go back to buying the best young talent. If he is quality and we can help him develop then he'll find his place.Eze seems like such a strange buy IMO. I cannot see where he fits in the team atm and we need to spend in other area's first.

There is certainly an opportunity but we have a full squad so will need to sell. With the unusual situation that the footballing world finds itself in, there's an unparalleled opportunity for us to bring in the best young talent from the lower leagues, at seriously discounted prices.
Personally, I think we should fully embrace this. If we're strapped for cash then we should adk Uncle Joe for an interest-free loan and guarantee paying him back over the next 2 to 3 seasons, once revenue streams pick up again.
You know that our rivals will be looking to raid the lower leagues.
