That would assume there is space in prison for someone. This current clueless government is currently doing everything it can to avoid sending people to prison either because they have not built any or it is one of their mates!
Ooh... 8 Tories in here... Tut

Probably get a small fine, community service and have to pay a £50 victim surcharge.

Well the damage was not sufficient enough to stop the NFL game going ahead so maybe what the guy did was relatively insignificant but high cost just because everything costs a bundle nowadays.

Apparently the bloke broke in to the kitchen quarters and smashed half dozen tubs of Lurpak on the floor- 100 large worth that surely.

It’s not factually incorrect though. Prisons are full and judges have been told to limit sentencing accordingly.

The original post intimated that they are not sending people to prison and they are not building new prisons.....well they have been sending more than ever to prison, which is exactly why the current government are on a programme of building new prisons.....I think I saw an expected 20,000 new beds being built (though I may have imagined that specific number).

*Real sorry for going off topic! It just annoyed me that it's not as simple as blaming it on some errant political partizanship. Personally, I feel that too many people are being sent to prison in the first place, and I suspect Labour would probably agree with that.

It is strange that there doesn't appear to have been any leak of what actually happened. As others have commented that is a lot of damage.

Something does seem off. I suspect the value of the damage is wrong. If it was hundreds of thousands of pounds of damage it would have been pretty easy for people at the NFL to spot.

.....not if it's damage to the pitch or the kart track underneath?

We're talking about hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage and not someone just spray painting a wall so I'd be surprised if they get away without a custodial sentence.
Bernie Ecclestone a few days ago pleaded guilty to fraud in relation to failing to declare 400 million pounds worth of assets to the UK tax authorities and avoided immediate custody. He got a 17 month suspended sentence and has agreed to pay 652 million to Inland Revenue.

Seems like it was £20,000.......and not £200,000. Will be interesting to see if he has any cash to pay up!

Make him dress up as a giant cheese and let Chirpy roll him around pre game..... until he's at retirement age. Or death, whatever comes first..... not like I want him to die, but got to get our monies worth.
