This. Chelsea had a net spend of -£50m last year and it's enabled them to go out and spend nearly £380m this season alone and enabled them to stay within FFP. We could probably spend a £1 billion and stay within it.
In 2021 we could spend £400m and stay under FFP, so it’s more likely around £500m now - and let’s face it £200m would drastically change the sorry looking state of this side.
Additionally, if we asked for £10m for each of Spence, Reggie, Doherty, Royal, Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga, Rodon, Sess, Doherty, Skipp, Lo Celso, N’dombele and Winks - I’m sure we could shift nearly all of them at that price and that would generate another £140m - sure the squad would look bare and we would need to sign 4 or 5 defenders but it would be a step in the right direction.

But even they invest in the team considerably. I wouldn’t mind owners taking dividends if it didn’t effect on pitch recruitment and the running of the club. They only reason they’ve struggled is because they’ve recruited badly and appointed the wrong managers until now. They’ve always backed their managers with money and signings.

So what if they take £20 million out of the club every year if they invest £200 million on it. It wouldn’t bother me if we were properly run.
They need to stop making “club signings” as well - it doesn’t work if the manager isn’t going to pick them and just uses up valuable resource

I know it amazes me how many fans think we don’t have the resources to spend, it’s just we either a) spend poorly - I.e buy 3/4 cheap squad players Vs 1 first 11 or b) spend to long trying to squeeze the price down (literally no big club takes this approach as regularly as we do). However levy has been very clever to create a narrative that we “can’t spend like our rivals” utter bollox in my view.

Tbf to them, that statement was true pre-new stadium. It's not now. We've overtaken Arsenal and are right up the backside of Chelsea. It wouldn't surprise me if we overtook them next year with the boost the CL money will give the turnover.

It can’t go on can it, home games are going to be toxic now, our next 3 home games are City, Chelsea and West Ham - it’s gonna be on top of Daniel if he keeps sitting there doing faack all

Man United's earnings are completely different from ours. There is enough for them to take the money out(their T/O is a lot lower than normal). I'm not convinced ours is.

They take something like £35 million a year out.

It's new territory really, the level of discontent with Levy is at previously unheard of levels. But in the past, when there's been even the faintest whiff of rebellion, he's gone out and spent a few quid, done something 'popular' and it's taken the edge off it all. He buys time and people forget. He's reliant on complacency and fickleness.

This time we mustn't fall for it. His race is run, he's taken us as far as he can, as far as he's likely to and as far as he's willing to. Leave now while you still have the stadium as a legacy.

EDIT: What I forgot to say is that we, as fans, need to get right behind Conte and keep the pressure on Levy. That's the best way forward IMO.

Obviously it wouldn’t be acceptable on the scale they are doing it there but my point was if the owner was doing it, yet the club was being run properly on the pitch and it didn’t effect transfers or performance then I would be on board with it. That’s better than what we have now, which is just a wet fart of nothingness.

100% - Levy brought in a cheque book manager and didn’t give him the cheque book, I won’t be forgetting that.

It’s been hinted at how he’s pulled the rug from under Conte on his contract negotiations in December but now he just appears to be doing nothing. There’s zero transfers in and out (it’s starting to get a very strong whiff of summer 2018 about it) which is alarming. It’s like he is stuck in paralysis and can’t do anything. Is he scared to, has he given up, is he waiting for Conte to combust and walk out? Something is up, but I bet he thinks it’s fine and dandy.

The glazers are at least willing to back the manager

Can you see Dennis Levy paying 50m for Casemiro or 80m for Antony
ETH the project manager has spent more in 6 months than Conte the cheque book manager has in 12 - would love to ask Levy what his excuse is for that, especially as United don’t have CL football

The hope is that he does t see himself there come the summer so doesn’t want to stick anymore in- would be the best outcome all round

I disagree. Club signings are what keeps Chelsea able to stay within ffp. We don't have to name them in squads and can loan them out if the current manager doesn't like them. We get through managers quick enough that club players can soon become first picks for other managers. Only signing manager picks is short sighted andakes us need a rebuild every couple of years.
