From a corner yes, because the ball has to travel about 35 yards to get into a position where he can claim it-from a free kick like that, the ball as travelled about 20 yards and at pace-Gomes has to be 1 yard from his line to avoid being chipped. By the rules of science, the ball is going to get there before he will. If the defence disappear like that then the keeper has absolutely no chance-all he can do is try and put the striker off.

Are you for real? We've been rubbish, no threat going forward and only for Dawson it would've been much worse. Shaktar weren't great either, they looked like a side that hadn't played a competitive game for a while but they were more than good enough to beat us.
