We're not talking about anyone else. We're talking about this myth that Paulinho is a world class goalscoring midfielder. He's not. He's a very average player who has been pathetic this season.

Offensively and defensively Dembele pisses all over Paulinho.

Steady, no need for the extreme viewpoint to prove your point, also the bits on bold...just, no

Jury is still out on Paulinho for me.

I think Bentaleb's defensive input is awful. His pressing is atrocious. And he is shocking for ballwatching/not tracking runners.

He'd only made three passes by the 19 minute mark today. He wasn't showing for the ball enough and his passing was too conservative. I think he's a terrible choice at the base of midfield.
Agenda.

Whilst not wanting to wade into your personal convo, how many goals/assists has Dembele got in the last two years, let alone this season? Offensively he is dreadful the majority of the time. A real disappointment

Going by stats on the offensive bit mate. Some people like them, some don't. On average more key passes, more successful dribbles, better pass completion. Obviously better defensively, as well.

Don't rate Paulinho at all. Seems Sherwood doesn't really rate him either.

Demebele doesn't score, I'll admit that. Though I think he could score more. He's usually deeper than Paulinho and has to cover for Paulinho's laziness and lack of defensive discipline. I think we always miss a fit Dembele.

I'd have Dembele over Paulinho any day. And Paulinho's small return in goals doesn't change that.

So have a lot of Tottenham managers. See your point, though. I just don't think Paulinho is the mythical goalscoring midfielder a lot of fans think he is. They seem to be blinded by his nationality. He certainly hasn't earned a starting place over, say, Bentaleb.

In that case I'd say to Dembele, as soon as Belgium are eliminated from the WC. You get your ass on the surgeons table and get whatever the fuck you need doing, done.

I'd have holtby and sandro in the middle with holtby keeping things ticking over. Lamela, Eriksen and chadli changing inbehind soldado. Balance but also with creativity and guile.

You don't need stats to tell me that Paulinho is offensively a better player than Dembele, it's blatantly obvious.

Small return in goals win games.
Dembele is not going to dislodge Sandro or Capoue in the DM role.
So what do you think Dembele actually does?
And yes i like Bentileb in a forward 3 not as DM.

I don't know what Dembele does anymore. I'm fed up with him.

Why? Because he has three goals and 1 assist more from a usually more advanced position?

Dembele doesn't have an end product, Paulinho does.

The Dembele argument has been done to death really, the fact that we're still struggling to find his best position speaks volumes.

Dembele is great at receiving the ball, beating a man and opening up the field. His work rate is good (I've already said how usually he's everywhere working two shifts covering Paulinho, though that's just my view). Defensively he's superb. He's a great outlet. Further forward he has the ability to beat a man on the edge of their box and prod the ball forward which he has done a few times this season for it to come to nothing.

Like Steve said, though, he needs to get himself sorted. He started brilliantly with us but hasn't been the same since he got that hip injury.

Dembele is a strange one, though, I admit. He's a striker that's been converted into a centre mid. If we find a manager that knows what to do with him (and I don't mean that in a negative way) then we can have some player on our hands. I still stand by my assertion that he has got goals in him.

The amount of times I've seen Paulinho sky the ball in a great position. That end product?
