After our first 4 games on the season we have now won 1-0, 8-0, 1-0 and 3-0. Now I know they may not have been against any of the big clubs but I was thinking how good 4 clean sheets have been! And then wonders if any other team has been able to do that so far, so I had a quick look.

Tottenham are the only club in the EPL not to let in a goal yet this season in the league or cup, only 3 teams (Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham) have yet to concede in the league, but Liverpool and West ham have let in a goal at least in cup games, where Tottenham have won 5-0 and 3-0! and on further look Tottenham are the only team in the English top flight, EPL, Championship, League one, league two, Conference, and also in the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League one, League 2!

It's looking good but we haven't really been tested yet, let's see how we do against Arsenal.

Of course our defense is going to look nice! With our wealth in newly-acquired midfielders who know how to tackle, a rejuvenated Dawson, Kaboom back fit and fighting and Walker back to form, with Rose getting there. Not to even mention Super Jan.

Also consider that all the teams we've played have sat back totally against us, or were piss poor. It's almost a compliment that teams now look to get a draw from us though! Swansea and Palace both sat back, and didn't make any 'big chances' (a fact) - which is also the reason why we've looked less creative on the attack, as it's hard to thread through a ball when you have 3 people around you and 3 there to intercept.

Apart from that though, our defense and central midfield is so solid, maybe the best in the Prem if Man Utd don't get their midfielder. No team wants to have to go through about six or seven 6+ foot players who are quick and can defend - we've got a solid base, add Lamela, Eriksen, Chiriches and maybe even more, and the future- heck, even now, looks pretty bright.

So I guess the gloom and doom is gone after we received a thrashing from Monaco in pre-season.

We've not been properly stretched yet:

- Dynamo - just crap and can't even pass so they don't count
- CP - long ball so easy for Kaboul/verts/dawson as they are aerially dominant
- Swansea - pass their way forward slowly so no through balls or counter

This sunday will be completely different. Arsenal can counter very well and people like WalCock will really stretch the game and cause us problems

I think this is as much to do with our new look, tough as nails, midfield than the return of Kaboul. But certainly things look very good defensively so far, although much tougher tests to come as already pointed out.

I agree. Our midfield is the key here. Those beasts just do not let the opposition get at our defence. The only real pressure on our defence came against Palace towards the end when they bypassed our midfield and we had to scramble a few long balls away for corners and such like.

Let's not get too excited, history shows our goals against column could take a peppering on Sun.

I think this was generally because of how good our pressing was, think their idea was to exploit the high line but we never gave them time to pick out passes.

I disagree that we haven't been tested, I've seen Loris make a few worldie saves in those games.

Bit early for this but I want us to have the meanest defence in the league, all this attacking flair is all well and good but keeping a clean sheet is equally as satisfying as scoring a goal.

Just to play devils advocate, we haven't scored a goal from open play in the league this season....just two pens.

Defence is looking good but in the attacking 1/3 we need to do a whole lot better.

Defintely. As much as we needed a new striker, our failure to make top 4 last year was equally because we went through a period of letting in 2 goals or more per game. An immediate disadvantage if you're having to score 3 goals to win. Successful teams generally have a mean defence, however much attacking power and the strengthening we've done in defensive midfield in particular I think will be a godsend.
