Really

it seems like we need ITK control, or a board of ITK's to filter some of these stories. Firstly it was spamers Cole and now this.

er, so what you want are story's that only link us to players your happy about and these will be filtered by people who know everything thats going on at WHL

But if Woody is crocked we actually have 3. Just because Huddlestone, Corluka and Kaboul can play there, doesn't mean they should, especially when our best defender is capable of long absences. And to be fair, we should expect Daws to be out a bit. He throws his body around and we love it, but that will cause time on the bench.

I'd rather have Woody. And after Woody, I'd like Kjaer. But Davies is English, pretty good and seems to have a good hear. If forced to, not a bad option

its kabouls natural position! He wouldn't b just fillin in. Man u,chelsea, liverpool and gooners do not have 5 top class cb's.even with all ferdinands problems fergie did not stockpile players.

Quite right. Frankly if the player isn't approved by Strader I don't want to know about it...even if we sign him. Just keep him under wraps and don't announce his name when he's in the starting XI.

Peanut has a long history of getting things right. You've got the wrong target with this one I'm afraid.

King, Dawson, Woodgate, Bassong, Kaboul are all good CBs. Although admittedly you would never expect more than 3 of those to be fit at any time.

With us having Corluka as well I dont really see why we are after another one

I like a CB that can hear danger coming.

I don't really see why Curtis Davies would be any more interesting than Micah Richards to be honest.

A player who I like who might also be surplus at City is Nedam Onouha. But to be honest I have no reservations about Kaboul or Corluka playing CB. If we were to sign Srna (which I'd love) Corluka moving inside to CB could be the answer to our Woodgate/King problem as he was a CB originally and would bring some leadership and footballing ability to the job.

sorry, but the danish international CB Simon Kjær is a much better option; younger, taller, faster and just well... better

Dude, Kaboul is a CB. Makes it 4. But I agree that in addition to King/Daws/Bassong/Kaboul we should have one young guy we'd actually be comfortable playing. Kjaer seems to be too good (!) for that role, especially as Dawson/Bassong/King can be our top three centre backs for, well, at least another 5 years if King's knees can keep up. I actually rate Kaboul and think he's an excellent back-up CB/RB. An upgrade on Dervitte, then?

Keeping my fingers crossed that Woody will be ok, as I don't think Davies would be more than a domestic cup player for us.

If Woody retires we will not be able to attract a real top quality centre back because we cannot guarantee regular first team football. Ledley King is our captain and Dawson was our best player last season. Bassong has hardly put a foot wrong so someone like Davies might not be a bad option. Kjaer seems the real deal but he will want guarantees

At last a reasonable voice. For those who don't want him as FOURTH choice back up, what exactly are the flaws in his game or in the deal being mooted?

The point is we don't need a FOURTH choice centre back we have Kaboul!! Before you say it Kaboul is not a RB and Harry must rate him as he took him to pompey.

Seems to me that Davies could play right back in a pinch as well and I think Kaboul was bought from Pompey because they owed us money and we knew they couldn't pay us back to at least we got a asset instead of having that debt written off and us never seeing a dime of it.

If Harry and company like Davies better than Kaboul and the prices are about the same, i.e. whatever we get for Kaboul is about what we spend on Davies I would be fine with that, would add to our homegrown list as well which is a huge plus for a 4th choice center back.

Not for sure if this has been discussed but maybe all this talk about a 4th choice backup (Davies and Richards) is because Kaboul wants out? If I was him I would think my career could stall again not playing enough minutes with Spurs so maybe these players are about as good as we can do for 4th choice and if that is the case I would rather have Richards as he does a solid job at right back and if we are moving Hutton on we will need an experienced right back to cover for Corluka as Walker and Naughton aren't ready yet.
