Venables is right IMO.

Terry Venables writing in the Evening Standard says Spurs need to move away from White Hart Lane and build a bigger and better stadium than the proposed Northumberland Park Development.

IMO Venables is right. It's time to stop wallowing in WHL history and turn to the future. The various enigmatic historical successes belong to THFC not WHL and will always remain.

WHL is a dog and any development there will inhibit the Club's effort to return to the top echelon of English football.

I have experienced some incredible occasions at WHL but it's time to move on IMO.

60000 is about where we are at the moment. Hopefully they will make it possible to expand if needed in the future.
It is our home, that shouldn't change.

The only history white Hart lane has is age.
We've won two league titles.
Our FAC wins were at Wembley, not the lane.
There's some UEFA cups that were 1 of 2 legs at the time but that's about it.

The atmosphere is shit so we can't even say it'll lose that in a new stadium.
The capacity is pathetic considering we had almost 80k in the standing days.

You'd have to be mental to think anything other than a rebuild is essential to move forward.

I've not read the article and know very little about building football stadia but would assume we could get a bigger capacity stadium on the same site, if that was what the club wanted. They've chosen this design because it meets the club's needs.

We are Tottenham Hotspur, we should be based (and play) in Tottenham.

As long as we remain in the area then I'm not too fussed about building on the exact plot of land where WHL currently exists, moving closer to transport links would be good but we shouldn't ever (permanently) move out of the borough.

It's like Woolwich Arsenal moving out of Woolwich and dropping that part of their name or Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes and re-branding as MK Dons. If we were to move out of Tottenham we would be no better than those two and it would be a slippery path towards droping the 'Tottenham' and officially re-naming ourselves Hotspurs or Spurs

Im not quite sure that some people realise the club itself has chosen the capacity of the stadium, the Tottenham area has yet to become sentient as a whole and informed us of how many seats its willing to accept on top of it so luckily the area is irrelevant

Why on earth would you accept Hackney Marshes?

To be honest, its further away than I first thought ha but hey. Where else in Tottenham could it be? I don't want anything out of Tottenham in reality. That said, its all going that way anyway, big grounds away from the areas, overpriced tickets, prawn sandwiches, family's in park lane etc etc.... its not as if our fans stroll out from their homes and walk 5 minutes down the road to watch us anymore. Maybe as long as the ground is within our catchment area, it doesn't matter, I don't know...

What do you mean by catchment area?

One of the issues with Tottenham, is that is it a country mile off become the next 'gentrified & trendy' area. Islington has massive pull for investors and it costs more for a flea-ridden box room than a 6 bed town house in tottenham. Kings Road is a swanky posh chav fest. Tottenham, as an area, offers nothing like the above. Nothing, other than a local shopping Ctr.

So, if Spurs do want to reach the giddy heights of Arab / Russian owned billions, then I think an eventual move from the area would be necessary to attract them. Whats the point of putting a glossy, shiny new development in that area? What is on offer outside of the vicinity?

I've mixed opinions and can see the positives on both sides.

We need to build a great team first, who wants to see a team that wins a trophy once every 10 years apart from Tottenham supporters?
