Unai Emery has wanted Juan Foyth for a long time. The manager says he wanted the defender at PSG, but that Tottenham got to him first. Now in March of his loan season here in Villarreal, he is one of the 11 most used players in all competitions this season, and has become pretty consistent defensively as both a right back and center back.

No reason for him to come back here. Mourinho binned him after one mistake v Norwich where he otherwise played very well. Would have been a better option at RB than Doherty and we could have saved 15m in the process.

I have to agree with this, but it’s really hindsight isn’t it? We never knew Doherty would turn out to be a donkey, I don’t think anyone expected it to go as bad as it has.

Least of all Mourinho who had Doherty at the top of his list. He did however bin Foyth very unceremoniosly which some thought was a mistake (and said so).

I did. I said before he signed he seemed like an average player flourishing in a specific system.

Most Wolves fans were more than happy to see him go. Everytime I saw him play at right back he was pretty average. It's very odd that we signed him given we've hardly ever played wing backs (although he's been bad in that role too).

Ironically he'd have probably been an ideal right-back in Mourinho's line up with the more attacking Reguilon on the other side.....

But we are getting a similar fee for foyth. DOH-erty does have one advantage Though being he’s added to our homegrown Quota..... but that’s about the only advantage

Why? Don't confuse him for being good defensively just because he isn't good at attacking...

Foyth isn't going to make it here. Doesn't make him a bad player. Hopefully we can get some funds in to bring in what we need

Think he could have been a pretty good RCB, but we need to sell to buy this summer, so he may have to go.

What we need from any incoming CB is the ability to lead the rest of the line, and to get us through the tricky stages in games where we start to lose focus and make mistakes. That isn't Foyth. With big Dav looking like he could actually be the big money player we signed and Toby also I think someone who can play the left side is what we realistically need right now.

Joe Rodon? Plays on the left of a back 3 for Wales. Why on earth did we buy him.

Well it's £12m-£15m for the transfer kitty which I would assume is bare at the moment due to Covid and how much we've spent in the past couple of seasons.

do you genuinely believe Davinson is going to kick on and become a dependable, consistent elite level centre back for us?

I don't know, but we have Rodon and Tanganga as well. Money is going to be tight, and I'd much rather one quality CB come in, than 2 average premier league players.
