How so? Eriksen, Verts and Lamela have 2 years left I believe. We always do our best to avoid one year left scenarios, unlike that other lot down the road, it's one of our strengths.

Kane most important but already has a long term deal and already sounds like a pay increase is very close. Lloris will also need to be kept sweet.

I agree on Eriksen, Verts and Lamela. I don't agree that giving Kane and Lloris a new contract is key this summer. Lloris has 3 years left, Kane 4. We can't just keep giving players new contracts every year.

Translation of article from AZ Alkmaar- quotes from Chairman and Vincent:

ZAANSTAD- Vincent Janssen continues his career at Tottenham Hotspur. The 22 year old striker signed on Tuesday a contract for four years with the number three in the Premier League. AZ Janssen had a contract until 2019.

Janssen to Tottenham Hotspur
Janssen made last summer's transfer from Almere City FC to AZ. Since Brabander developed at lightning speed. Partly because of the 27 league goals Janssen placed AZ directly for European football. It gave the attacker the title of top scorer in the Eredivisie.

Talent of the Year
Janssen next scorer was named Talent of the Year. His outstanding performance in the AZ-shirt also earned him an invitation to the 'big' Oranje. Janssen made his debut on March 25 as a substitute in the home game against France. Four days later, his first base position against England at Wembley and he was immediately accurately. So far Janssen played five internationals (3 goals).

Janssen was in season 2015-2016 the only AZ'er which came into action all 34 Eredivisie matches. In total, the striker reached 49 games for AZ and he made 31 goals. Janssen found throughout its AZ-period 40 times the net spread over the Eredivisie (27) KNVB Beker (1) Europa League (3), the Juniors (6) and Orange (3).

Huiberts: "Satisfied with the end result"
"It was a few days ago an interesting process," said Director of Football Affairs Max Huiberts. "We are well known to each other what we wanted and that's ultimately true. Tottenham is a tough negotiator, but we are very satisfied with the end result. On the one hand, AZ proud of this transfer, on the other hand, it is unfortunate that we lose a player of this caliber and with this personality. Vincent we allow this transfer, however, sincerely and wish him every success in London. "

Janssen: "Great front door '
"I am very happy that I can make the move to Tottenham Hotspur," says Janssen. "Fortunately the club have finally reached an agreement. I was able to shake everyone's hand and leaving a big door. I think it's a good deal for all three parties. I go to a great football country, also another Champions League there. I've had at AZ the best football year of my life. The people with whom I've worked with have been fantastic. My move to AZ's been a good move, I just look back positively on my time in Alkmaar. "

transfer fee
AZ does - as usual - no statements about the transfer fee that is associated with the transition from Janssen to Tottenham Hotspur.

Of course I'm pleased about VJ. A centre forward to give Harry competition, a back-up or even a player to (hopefully) compliment him and play as part of a pair or main target man.

Why am I not super excited though? Maybe this has gone on too long and we've known we were likely to sign him. Or maybe it's because I feel we could be missing a trick and have not signed a completely different type of player - someone who could offer a wholly different type of dimension to our play - through pure pace or trickery. Cue the Son, Clinton comments here...

There's no doubt we are building a monster team and squad which will hopefully be very good and strong and should be too much for a lot of our opponents.

Onions of course and you never know, something may yet happen. I'll reiterate though I am happy enough we've signed him though of course.

I agree on Eriksen, Verts and Lamela. I don't agree that giving Kane and Lloris a new contract is key this summer. Lloris has 3 years left, Kane 4. We can't just keep giving players new contracts every year.

If we value Kane as a £50m+ player we have to pay him accordingly, he may be committed to the club but he also will not want to be underpaid due to breaking through here rather than being bought in. Less so for Lloris but if the Madrid interest is true (even if tentative) he will likely need some sort of sweetener.

Like it or not this massive TV money increase is just going to PL players being even more overpaid, case in point Vardy and Deeney.
