I think we've missed the boat on this one....why we never just paid his buy out clause only DL knows.

is there any reason why we still cannot meet his buy out clause ?

it will be cheaper than what we offered for Mortinho

I highly doubt any player whose team gets through the group stages would consider moving in January.

Think Isco will be really hard to get, especially in Jan.

Another creative player, we've been linked to is my fellow Dane from Ajax Christian Eriksen, looks like he had a really good game against City. 1 assist and 1 goal.

Transfer deadline day at Spurs....

AVB "Daniel I really need some creativity in midfield, Tim has watched Isco and likes him, can you buy him"

DL "Of course Andre you know I always support my managers and Malaga are in schtuck so we can get him on the cheap."

Next morning

AVB "So Daniel did you sign Isco ?"

DL "I called Malaga and offered a pack of Smarties and a Mars bar but they said no but don't worry I've got you someone way cheaper, I mean better"

AVB "Who ? Willian ?"

DL "No better than him"

AVB "Neymar ?"

DL "Don't be silly Andre. No, I've bought you Clint Dempsey !"

AVB "Oh"

DL "I know amazing isn't it"

He has been the top player of the Champions League so far, his team is going to advance, and he is going to get a lot of press time. His ship has sailed for us. If he moves clubs, it is going to be to one with bigger pockets. Even if we can agree on a price, I think his wage will be too much for us :poop:

I still wish we'd signed Huntelaar at any given opportunity of the last few years. I know he's not the full uber striker in the Torres, Drogba mould but he's a fucking good No.9. in the Shearer mould.

I banged on about Isco and Afellay I dont know how many times in the summer. Both players that we could have got reasonably cheaply and ideally then left us to put the big money on Moutinho. Instead we are stuck with Sigurdsson and Dempsey :cautious:

Eriksen is a fantastic player, first properly saw him when he was the best player on the pitch by a mile in and England vs Denmark game a few years back and ever since when I have seen him I have been impressed. Not someone who I have ever thought as a realistic target though, destined for bigger things IMO.

I dont think Isco is out of reach as he has limited options, the spanish clubs are no go's since they cant sell to a competitor and PSG have a few options and are rumoured to want Moutinho and is out of the English clubs and with Malaga having their money withheld by the Uefa, he also said he would leave the club if they had to sell

The definition of missing the boat.

Side note: Eriksen was absolute shit at the Euros, I remain unconvinced. Think he needs a couple more years in Ajax.

If we do that does he then become another 'missed boat?'

We got Modric when he was just starting to make a name for himself. Many thought he was too lightweight. Admittedly he was impressive internationally but you get my drift.

If we can't afford established talent, or even break out talent like Hazard, Oscar and, by many reports, Isco, then the gamble is necessary I'm afraid.

I think everyone knows a 'gamble' is necessary but the chance and time for that gamble was last summer. He won't move in Jan with his team progressing in the CL and then come the summer he will be twice as expensive as what we were first quoted which we know from experience we won't pay.
