Has anyone been to West Ham away in recent seasons?

If so do they normally keep Tottenham fans behind and does it take a while to get a tube from Upton Park after the game?

I heard there maybe long queues so was looking for advice.

Thanks 1966yid

Ye went last season and season before. They let us all out at the same time. There's a massive queue for the tube, moves quikly though.

Went two years ago (maybe 3? when defoe missed the pen)

Got to the tube station half an hour before KO, as i stepped out and a very kind policeman asked me very politley If I was a spurs fan. In my haste I said "Yes", he said "You need to go this side". Which was straight into a police cordon. That walked us around the estates for 45 minutes, which meant I missed the first 15 minutes of the game.

When you come out don't head for the front of the tube station, the queue snakes down behind an open-air type thing market to the left. Bit like at spurs don't aim for the station as thew queue will grow and grow by the time you get to the back

Yeah I was there two seasons ago, you are bottom tier behind the goal. Great atmosphere amongst the yids.

Getting out of there the atmos is a bit risqué, and the queue for the tube takes a good half hour

I've been there a few times and haven't been held back after the game. I recommend walking the extra distance to another tube station or jump on a bus.

Keep your head down and your colours covered too, it is an intimidating place and the away fans do get funnelled down a small alley onto the main drag. That said those who look for trouble will find it, those who don't won't and I've never felt personally endangered there.

It was fecking difficult to keep a straight face after that game, when Paul Stalteri achieved legend status with one simple finish.

I went when Stalteri scored the last minute winner. I had to stay behind as I was doused in my own spunk and unable to move for several days. Sorry can't be much more help.

I went deep, deep undercover to a West Ham vs Brighton game back when they were in the Championship.
We were sat in a Hammers section so they didn't hold us back but as we walked out of the ground we found ourselves being herded around by metal fencing. They basically, created a queueing system like those found in a theme park that led us in a slow and winding path, eventually ending up at the station. It took a bleedin' age, shuffling along, shoulder to shoulder with grumbling Hammers. Not very nice.
I think they lost too, or at the very best, scraped a draw.
After the Premiership, it did seem like a rather uncivilised place! The fans were kicking off left right and centre, the players were (handbag) fighting, fans were trying to get on the pitch to join in with the player scuffles, a steward was offering one section of the crowd to "come and get some" and all the while a small child a couple of seats away was calling the ref a C*** loudly and frequently, whilst sat with his parents...who were almost glowing with parental pride - and he (the child of course) must have been about 6 or 7.
I've never seen anything like it in all honesty.
And to think, we nearly went to see them play Leeds!!

Missed last season but have done the previous four.

I never wear colours when I go there, mainly because I normally meet up before and after the game with a couple of Hammer acquaintances in the Queens.

As mentioned before, never been held back after the game though the queues for the tube are horrendous.

Sorry, were we not held back after the 2-0 two years ago? I certainly remember being stood in the aisle singing 'jingle bells' for a good ten mins before we started moving.

I know it always takes a while to squeeze out through the dingy vealcrate, but I really thought we were locked in. It certainly took 100 times longer than it did last year, on what was the hottest day I've ever had at football!

I didn't get to the 4-3 so that 2-0 was my favourite game at Upton Park. Loved it. Cold enough to necessitate a beer coat, spammer mates in full view down the chicken run, as good a singsong from the Yids as i can remember, a King goal, late goalmouth drama (thanks Gomes) and then straight up the other end to seal it late on with a thunderbolt. That is how football shout be. Bit of drama before a lot of festive singing. :hump:

Went last year all fine. Queue for tube but not too bad unless you're in a mad rush.

Ah god I remember how hot it was now. I was also sat real close to the pitch and was in the sun for the entire match. I burnt that day!

I went the season before last; O'Hara last minute goal just after Gomes pulled off an awesome double save.

Echo what others have said;

1. Back alley to get there, no problems.
2. Joke queue for tube but doesn't move fast like at WHL.
3. Shit hole of an area, it doesn't have the charm of Tottenham- yea I said it.
4. Anti-semitic fucks at the boozer by the tube.

Not sure I can be arsed with it this year, last year co-incided with the last day of The Ashes and the tickets are circa £50 no?

I had glandular fever last summer and I have never felt so awful as I did that day. I was in row eight or so, in direct sunlight, and they ran out of all liquid except beer in the concourse. So uncomfortable. But Carlton Cole, Lennon and 'Pinkie' cheered me up.

To make it worse my flipflops had broken on the way to the ground and I ended up having to buy a cheap pair of women's ones which were literally six sizes too small. It was that or go in barefoot.
