I don’t really like the team if I’m completely honest. We might still pick up a result but that midfield 3 all cough up the ball pretty cheaply when pressed

Eriksen wasn't seen kicking a ball in those training videos but was out there somewhere. On the bench today. It looks like Jose is going to take control of this situation and make it clear that Eriksen doesn't need to be in his plans at all if he isn't willing to commit to a new contract. Could be very interesting because while Eriksen is holding all the cards with the threat to run down his contract, his potential pool of suitors could reduce drastically if he spends the next few months on the bench. And they weren't exactly falling over themselves in the summer, so Christian has some thinking to do.

Personally would have gone with Foyth for Aurier and Lo Celso for Alli but still a strong team
Hopefully Moura and Son both perform as they rarely do at the same time
Alli back in his best position with a new manager could see him on his way back to form again
Looking forward to the Winks and Dier combination we've rarely seen

Pochettino got fired because of a lack of creativity in attack this season. With Ndombele not playing, I fear success with this first XI is going to come down to Dele running the show and creating chances in the final third, which he really hasn't done in the last year or so. Winks and Dier just don't give you much of anything going forward, and Son and Moura need service and space to really be effective. Dele needs to step up and perform, or it could be a frustrating first 60 minutes or so. Luckily, Mourinho has a tendency to change things quickly when the personnel aren't up to the task. I expect a win, with Lo Celso (who should be starting) coming off the bench to provide a spark.

No Sessegnon even on the bench is disappointing, think Dier isn't good anymore but we'll see and it's not like we have too many better options anyway. I'm happy with Davies being picked over Rose.

Think people need to remember it's not just the team picked but the roles they've been asked to play. We cant judge that until after the game but on first glance a lot of positives for me.

Back 4 is pretty much the best we could pick (RB I think is up for grabs longer term)

Dier sitting and protecting is a massive positive for me. Picking Winks over Sissoko is also a positive sign for how Jose wants to play.

Front 4, glad Eriksen is not starting, argument for GLC but I think Lucas offers more on the break in an away derby game.

I guess if Dier is going to be the designated DM and Jose wants Son and Lucas on the flanks it will be a case of 2 from dele Eriksen Winks ndombele lo Celso with is strong competition

Sad to see the absence of Sessegnon; hope he gets a chance to convince otherwise. Expected Dier but not winks. Hopefully Lo Celso can have an impact off the bench. Can’t see Aurier surviving past the summer. COYS
