Audi and Peace Cups were good. But it’s usually a complete fucking shambles, mainly due to transfer dealings, which leads us to a staggering start. Let’s share our favourite pre-season stories. Have we ever started a season ‘ready’?

The one Jol took the team white water rafting.
Nothing to do with on the pitch, just the photos from that training camp

Got to be when we beat Roma 5-0. Optimism was high for the season after that, and with the league cup win the season before.

Then we had the 2 points from 8 games...

I was going to say the summer we smashed Roma. Never felt better going into a season with Bent scoring for fun and then..

Peace Cup was fun, too. They're really the only two I remember best, and maybe the PL Asia cup, did we win that or am I imagining it?

I haven't really enjoyed a pre-season since the Roma one, simply because you can't really go on performances and form from those games and it can all go tits up.

The pre-season we signed klinsmann. We played Watford away in a friendly for his debut and on the way there, we got talking to a group of women on the train, one of whom told us about a 3’s-up she had with Gazza and Paul Stewart.

Weirdly, a little later on, she got her boobs out and said ‘See’. I said ‘See what’? She said ‘See, I told you I had a threesome with Gazza & Stewart’. I had no idea how showing me her tits was proof that she had a threesome with 2 Spurs players a few years earlier, but I wasn’t going to argue with her train of thought. I think alcohol may have played a part to be fair…

So yeah, that’s my favourite pre-season. 1994. Boobies.

Can't believe people are saying the Roma 5-1 summer. That was the summer we replaced Keane and Berbatov with Fraizer Campbell! And that was after being in relegation form since winning the cup at the end of February.

For me, probably Summer 2016. The defeat to Newcastle to fall to 3rd had left us on a bit of a downer, but it was still very exciting times. For once not only did we have a great, attacking team but nobody was seriously linked with leaving. At the same time we bought in an all-action DM (Wanyama) and a great young backup for Kane (Jansenn) early doors, and got another promising youngster (N'Koudou) and decent rotation option in midfield (Sissoko) late on.

The only pre season game I ever got to go to was against Porto in 2006. Saw Berbatov for the first time, not really knowing anything about him. I distinctly remember thinking "stop playing with your hair!" and then about 10 mins later "ok mate. Do whatever the fuck you want if you're going to have a touch like that in competitive games"

yep like others have said, Bentley playing like Messi on steroids, hammering Roma in the days where we hardly ever got to even play against teams like Roma. Believing Juande would have a statue at the lane. The new black third kit.

What a pre-season

Gotta be the Peace Cup - good feeling about the club back then.

First time Audi Cup for me in 2015. Waited ages for Spurs to come to South Germany and that were two beautiful days full of fun and alcohol at Kennedys Irish Pub.

I stopped paying so much attention to pre season after the year we smashed everyone in it and then had 2 points from 8 games.

Easy. 2017. Spurs vs. City in Nashville. Spurs support took over downtown, bars packed from early Saturday morning, hardly a City fan to be seen. After lunch to the stadium to tailgate up to the 5pm kickoff. At the match City fans were the same number as Spurs, more or less, but they couldn't be bothered to party much before the match. It was a blast, even losing 3-0. Only Spurs match I've been to so far.

It was all that partying that sold my wife on being a football supporter. Before that, it was something that I followed. Now she has a Lloris kit, a Son kit, a NC Spurs scarf, and a THFC sticker in the back window of her car. And gets up early Saturdays and Sundays to watch the PL show on NBCSN.

This was my favourite. I remember boasting to my mates about how The Octopus, Johnny Two Saints and the Beckham re-gen, David Bentley, were gonna take the league by storm.

After going to the 5-0 Roma game I honestly couldn't have felt more optimistic.

...and then we won the league under Ramos and lived happily ever after. :)

I particularly liked Edgar Davids’ warm up and first appearance, v ‘Boro I think. He immediately clattered Parlour and became a legend.

2017, Spurs v Roma at Red Bull Arena. Sold the tickets to all the local supporter groups and got a nice commission check.

Then got to see us come back from 2-0 down to tie the match, and then in typical spurs fashion, give up a losing goal at the death.
